Stayed here for 4 nights in a superior room. The room itself was fine although the carpet had seen better days. ||The staff were very courteous and attentive, sometimes almost overly so in the restaurant. As soon as any plate or cup was empty, someone arrived to take it away. ||As others have said, the view from the restaurant is great and the choice at breakfast is very extensive. There may be no scrambled eggs but you can order yourself an omelette and there were copious amounts of everything. One tip - if you're not in a hurry, go a bit later (after 9.30) as it's nice and quiet then. ||The pool was nice and generally quiet as most people staying seemed to be on tours which meant they would be out and about, although you can only use it for free until 11.30.||The location is good; there's a nice park nearby and it's a brisk 5-6 mins walk to the metro, just 45 roubles per trip (about 50p). If you like Russian literature, Dostoevsky lived nearby and much of Crime and Punishment is set in the surrounding streets. ||Taxis were a good way of getting around. We used Gett, and they were all efficient and cheap and also we felt safe just...
Read moreI haven't written a review for a while...but I would like to share this experience. Recently I stayed at the Ambassador with my wife and two young children and, for the first time in a long time, had a completely perfect hotel stay! We travel extensively and stayed at this hotel for one night - as we are purchasing a property in St Petersburg. The staff - especially on the check-in desk - were charming and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable (including the bed!), and quiet. The breakfast was delicious. The breakfast room was quite busy so we had to share one of the larger tables. However, we shared the table with some delightful fellow travellers...and, fatefully, I made what could be a very useful work contact!||||(TO THE MANAGEMENT: As we have just purchased a property in the city, we are unlikely to stay with you again. However, the advantage of good hotel management is the secondary business. Your hotel will be our first recommendation to visiting family, friends, and work colleagues. And our children have already asked to return for dinner! The view from the restaurant is amazing....
Read moreI’ve stayed in this hotel one night only since came for business, had a meeting in early morning. They serve breakfast from 8am, so after 8am I go on 9th floor, pretty excited to eat my breakfast after such a long trip and little sleep, I make coffee in coffee machine, put coriander and already get happy imagining, how tasty it is as a manager runs to me and tells me I didn’t pay for breakfast - I tell him, I know I booked a room with breakfast, he calls someone, gets back, TAKING this cup with coffee OFF me and tells - you didn’t pay, you can’t drink it. I ask, how much he wants for coffee and he tells 11$ (750 roubles).... that’s too much for cup of coffee, so he tells me to go away. I’m pretty upset walking away, go to front desk and ask them, that I’m sure I paid for breakfast and they approve it - ROOM was booked with Breakfast, it was paid. They offered me to go back to eat, but I already had no time😔 VERY RUDE! I felt like a little baby, whose toy took out if him and was hungry all day until my meeting was over. |Do not stay there! Breakfast is most important part of beginning...
