Jaffali Mosque is an architectural marvel built in 1987 near the Al-Balad area. This stunning white mosque sits next to a calm lake and is one of the most beautiful in old Jeddah. The mosque's architectural elegance and grandeur exemplify the 20 domes that adorn its roof. The mosque also features a well-organized layout.

Built in the year 1987 by the Egyptian architect Abdelwahed El-Wakil, the Jaffali Mosque is one of the best places to visit in Jeddah, in addition to being one of its most famous mosques. Located near the Al Balad area and the Al Bayaa roundabout, this mosque is characterised by 20 opulent domes, and sprawls across more than 3000 square metres.

Home to a rectangular courtyard, and various corridors, this mosque can accommodate almost 2500 worshippers at a time. In addition to its striking white structure, the mosque also has a 3-tier minaret and offers serene views of the lake.

Jaffali Mosque is spread in 3,060 square meters and can comfortably accommodate over 2,500 worshipers.

The mosque also has a 370 square meter rectangular courtyard surrounded by beautiful dome-topped corridors.

Built on a raised platform, it features stairways leading to the main interior area on both the eastern and western facades.

The building, designed by renowned architect Abdel Wahed Al-Wakeel, is inspired by the city's elegant ancient neighborhoods.

The mosque's layout is highly compartmentalized, yet united by a common rectangular theme, separating all sections from each other.

To Juffali Mosque, Jeddah (Al-Balad), Saudi Arabia

Assalamu Alaikum,

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt connection with Juffali Mosque — a place that holds some of the dearest memories of my life. During my time in Saudi Arabia, I often came here with my late father and my elder brother to offer Jumma prayers. It was my father’s favorite mosque, and to this day, whenever I see a picture or video of Juffali Mosque online, I’m instantly taken back to those beautiful days.

I still remember how grand and peaceful the mosque was — the large prayer hall that could easily hold over a thousand people, the magnificent chandeliers, the beautiful carpets, and the spotless cleanliness, MashAllah. I can never forget the serenity that filled the place.

We also prayed many Eid prayers there, often in the mosque’s garden area, spreading our mats under the open sky. Those moments are forever etched in my heart.

I miss my father deeply. He always guided us with care, even when he was strict at times. Now that he is no longer with us, I truly understand the wisdom behind his ways. I always tell people never to resent their fathers for being strict — you only realize how right they were once they’re gone.

Juffali Mosque will always remain a special place to me — not just for its beauty, but for the memories and emotions it carries. Life has changed since those days, but Alhamdulillah, I’m grateful for every moment and for the blessings that continue.

Al-Jaffali Mosque perhaps is one of the more iconic mosques in Jeddah together with the Floating Mosque.The Masjed is big and in front of MOFA and the Jeddah lake built by one of big family Jaffali in same way like old design. In the past pilgrims on the way from Makkah to the airport for the flight home would stop here or at least pass by for a view of the mosque which acquired grim reputation for being the venue for capital punishments including beheadings. This infamous event is no longer performed here and I am not sure if pilgrim busses still consider this a tour location. In a word there is no connection between Islamic history and...
