مطعم نكهة تراثنا Granny’s Cuisine — Restaurant in Makkah Region

I found the place in Gmap, don not listen to Google when you go there, just take Marina road towards Albalad and park at Aljafali mosque parking, The location is great, the view of Alba'iah round-about infront of you and Aljaffali mosque can be seen too لقيت المكان عن طريق قوقل، نصيحه لاحد يسمع كلام قوقل، تاخذك لاماكن غريبه بعد اعمال الازاله. خذ طريق المدينه النازل على طووول لميدان البيعه و توقف السياره في مواقف مسجد الجفالي. يطل الموقع على ميدان البيعه و مسجد الجفالي ظاهر من بعيد. Arrived, the young lady at the reception was very welcoming, smiling and lovely, ordered homous, tahini, kabab miro and dawood basha. There were two working in the kitchen who looks nothing like chefs, a yemani and a far-eastern lady, may be philipinease. وصلت، الانسة في الاسنقبال كانت مبتسمه ولطيفة و مرحبه. طلبت حمص و طحينه وكباب ميرو وداود باشا. يعمل في المطبخ شخصان رجل يمني وامرأه اسيويه (ربما فلبينيه) The indoor area was enough for ten thin people but the outdoor is spaciuos. Lovely decor. The place is dusty, dust on artificial plants, pans, kitchen's top, you can see the kitchen coz there was only a glass wall (you also can see the three gas containers, i had a feeling what if they explode? very dangeruous) and still waiting for the appitizers الجلسه الداخلية تكفي ١٠ اشخاص نحيفين اكن الخارجيه واسعه. الديكور حلو لكن المكان معدوم غبار، الغبار منثور على النباتات الصناعيه والاكسسورات واللوحات وقدور المطبخ واسطح المطبخ، على فكره تقدر تشوف المطبخ وانت جالس لان اللي بينكم جدار زجاجي (حتى ممكن تشوف انابيب القاز الثلاثه واتخيل لو انفجروا-مره خطر) ومازلنا بانتظار المقبلات After an hour, homous ( out of a tin, you can taste it) tahini (so sour and not tahini at all) and kabab miro (small dark dry unshapy things, looks like black sea coral) The amount was so small بعد ساعه جاء الحمص (فتحوا علبة وحطوها، طعمها معلب) الطحينه (حامضه بدون ملح ولافيها طعم طحينه، وكباب ميرو (حاجات غيره سوداء وناشفه وتشبه الشعب المرجانيه بس سوداء) الكميات كانت شويه No fatayer or bread forn (similar to the picture), she said, the young lady is going to the shop to buy bread. So, we have to wait till she comes. Finally, we start eating ماكو لافطائر ولا عيش فرن ناكل به شبه الصوره، السيده قالت ان الفتاة راحت نشتري عيش لبناني من الدكان. معناها ماناكل ونستنى لما توصل. واخيرا اكلنا It was clear there was no proper organization between the two in the kitchen, the restaurant has only us (2) and another family of 5 (one man with his 4 kids) aaaaaaand the Dawood basha arrived, the sauce was tasted as if for Foul gilabah not Daood Basha. Tasted yukee, the meat was either chicken or lamb (who knows). The tinny amount not enough for even one. من الواضح مافي تنسيق بين الطباخين لان المطعم فيه انا وزوجي وعائله من خمسة (راجل مع ٤ اطفال)، بعد فترة جاء الداوود باشا، طعم السوس كانها فول قلابة، مقزز.. لحم اما انه دجاج او غنم، ماله طعم.. وكميه صغيره لاتكفي شخص. Exploring the historic district of Jeddah, I was enchanted by the streets full of meaning and inspiration. Sipping tea in the setting sun, accompanied by the call to prayer, I experienced an unforgettable journey of flavours with a dream team. I highly recommend this agency and this experience, as a solo traveller in such a richly experiential country. On the second day, we went diving in the Red Sea, with a very safe and professional team. The coral was pristine, and the abundance of life was astounding. What a wonderful restaurant. Inmidst a cozy atmosphere we enjoyed the camel meat based minced meat (a sort of meat balls) together with the best hummus we have ever tasted. The mediterranean salad (a side dish) came excellent together with rice and chicken.

The staff members received us with a warm welcome. The kitchen was only separated from the guest room with a glass window. So we watched the cook to prepare our meal fresh.

Zihad, our cook and Majed who served our meals were so friendly.

What a nice evening.

We would like to come back. Alas, our stay in Jeddah is too short for that. We recommend this restaurant for any guest visiting...
