Wowzers! What an amazing day! We took advantage of the Eid offer for our family as a treat for the kids. Our family loves playing escape rooms, murder mysteries etc so we love anything which stimulates the grey matter and activities which cause you to work as a team are just up our street!
The place itself is very well made Ma’shaa’Allah tabarakAllah. Clean and well thought out. The activities and games reminded me of the old British game show ‘the crystal maze’ where your team completes tasks, main difference being that you don’t play for crystals you play for points! The games vary in difficulty and skill and were perfect for our group as we have teens. We split into two teams (3 and 4) and the 3 hour playing window was perfect to attempt all the rooms- some we tried more than once!
Be prepared to be very physical! This doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the games if you’re not very fit- often times there’s good use for a voice to shout out directions to guide other team members and coordinate responses to challenges. Many games are suitable for a minimum of 2 players and some for 3- we found the team with 4 people had a slight advantage because for the more physical challenges that needed 3 players we could pick the 3 strongest players! Having said that the team with 3 players still managed to beat us!
You get an electronic fob which gives you entry into the rooms, this also logs information about how you did in the task, so you can pull up the statistics at the computer in one of the hallways- it will tell you what rooms you’ve done, the number of attempts, the time and the points you earned.
In a fast paced world where everything has become digital and impersonal, it’s nice to have places where you can make memories! This place is perfect for a hot day in riyadh where you wouldn’t want to be outdoors! The mall setting is perfect because once you’re done, you can enjoy a well deserved meal at one of the nice eateries close by.
One piece of advice- if like me you wear abaya, then make sure you can tuck it in (to stop it trailing)for some of the physical challenges- a couple of times the abaya got caught in the sensors for the game so we had to reattempt them as the alarm went off! Wear comfortable sports clothes and shoes underneath the abaya because you will be running/ climbing etc
Well done to the team at Prison Island! A well made and well thought out concept, a big...
Read moreThis is the best escape room in Riyadh, over 30 rooms with variety of challenges and obstacles to go through, a good exercise to build trust and confidence with your teammates or just simply have fun with your family, I recommend a team of no less than 3 and no more than 4 as rooms are small but some require 4 participants, the setting is deceptively easy as you can leave room after achieving requested objective or running out of time but you would often repeat same challenge more than once to try to improve, kids favourite where dancing floor and prison , this was my second visit, one hour is hardly enough to go through all the rooms so if you are a completionist and can't turn away self challenge book at least 2 hours 😉, easy booking on arrival all done through scanning bar code at desk, adult has to sign safety waiver electronically, you get then one key fob as group leader and choose a name for your team, lockers are provided for no additional fee , team debrief is available before going in if its your first time there, your remaining time and team score against other teams is clearly displayed on screen, if door light is red then you skip to other rooms with green light so there is always smooth play and no queuing, the team helpers are young motivated and very approachable which is a bonus, for the price you pay per ticket it is worth it in my opinion, will definitely...
Read moreWe recently visited Prison Island in Riyadh to celebrate a birthday with six 12-year-old girls, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, professional, and ensured everything was well-organized for our group.
The adventure itself was perfect for the girls—exciting, challenging, and fun! Each room presented a unique puzzle, and it was amazing to see the kids work together, problem-solve, and bond through the various challenges. The balance between mental and physical tasks kept the girls fully engaged and entertained throughout.
For a birthday celebration, Prison Island exceeded our expectations. They even helped make the birthday feel special with little touches that added to the overall experience. The atmosphere was thrilling but safe, and we appreciated the way the staff checked in on us and guided the girls when needed.
If you’re looking for a fun, adventurous, and memorable way to celebrate a birthday or any special occasion, Prison Island Riyadh is a must-visit! We couldn’t recommend it more for kids (or even adults) looking for a unique and...
