Plage des mamelles — Attraction in Dakar

Right now (Feb 2023) the whole area behind this small beach is under construction. There used to be lovely little rasta styles cafés with sunbeds and terraces, but no more. You can still rent an umbrella and a blanket from guys on the beach itself, and they can even prepare a meal for you, but it's nothing like it was before. It's also difficult to access because of ongoing constructions. The only reason to go here would be because it's even more "private" and secluded than before, and the beach itself is still clean with big rolling waves. It's reasonably safe for valuables etc, because no people passing through, and it (still) seems to be a place of preference for young mixed couples, which is cute somehow. It's a very small beach though, so you can't really find/claim your own...

Amazing hospitality from Abdou! All infrastructure has been removed but Abdou said he wanted to ensure there was something there when people turned up. Walk down to abandoned building and then past a couple hundred metres of rocks and you get to a stretch of beach and get taken care of entirely. Abdou provided towels to lie on, umbrella, coffee, peanuts and then his friend even brought over some mussels he had just caught! True...

Bon! J'avais trop d'envie de découvrir ce qu'il y avait sur ce plage et voilà. Ce n'est plus une plage mais un endroit où on peut aller dans l'eau avec beaucoup d'attention. S'allonger au soleil n'est plus possible et il n'y a plus de bar. Apparemment ils ont tout vendu et pour cette raison l'entrée principale est fermée parce qu'une usine de dessalement est en train de se construire. Je vous laisse de photos afin de que vous puissiez le voir vous même. En tout cas, la mer est très fraîche et ça fait du bien d'y entrer. Il n'y avait même pas un plastique quand je suis allée. 👏👌Attention parce que la marée monte très rapidement et elle peut devenir bien forte. Je profite pour vous recommander vu que vous êtes intéressés par la plage, celle qui est "à côté". Sur maps il paraît qu'il n'a pas de sable alors qu'il y en a: la plage de la mosquée de la Divinité.
