The rooms/apartments were of very good quality. However, bearing in mind they are self-catering apartments, there are a few observations I must make.
I got the impression the apartment building was still, either under construction 🏗 🚧 or being0 refurbished for the following reasons: A. The washing machine wasn't plumbed in. The cooker was in the middle of the kitchen, and being electric wasn't plugged in. I had to call the staff, who responded very quickly, to sort it out. They moved it to another wall in the kitchen and plugged it in. The wire extended across the kitchen draining board to an available socket. It gave me the impression that the designer didn't consider power to that device (only as an afterthought). B. The accompanying 'hood' (extractor-fan) was still in its packaging 📦 and on the kitchen floor. C. When I went to wash my hands for the first time after arrival, the water came out brown. I had to run it for a while before it cleared. D. The hot water wasn't working 😫 and worked intermittently even after the staff had tended to it. It will suffice to say I had a few cold showers. E. The air conditioning unit in the lounge wasn't working. It was very warm in the apartment's lounge & it didn't help that the cleaners opened all the windows when they were cleaning (understandably due to the heat), but rhat had the effect of raising the temperature in the entire apartment making it uncomfortable until the air conditioning units cooled the zones again. We had to use our friends' apartment on another floor until they had fixed that unit.
The staff tried their best to make us comfortable and given the circumstances, time of day/weekend and the resources they had at their disposal, they are to be commended.
The location of the apartment appears to be in the middle of a building site, and had i seen the outside of the building and its surroundings beforebooking, I would probably have opted to go somewhere else (see video). Most of the places we visited in Dakar were accessible from this location.
Notwithstanding the above, if those issues were addressed, I would definitely stay...
