Place was very out of the way. I went there by going in along jalan buroh road. It was a scary road with mainly heavy vehicles with hardly any cars. There was no proper entry point to the park. I was searching for it coming from Pandan Loop. I walked over a vehicle bridge over pandan river. The bridge has a large pavement segment that was not opened to pedestrian yet. Although it was possible to get on it by clearing some barriers. Many constructions were going on. I believed it was to build proper pedestrian and cycling path. I finally found an entry point. You have to walk up a gentle grass hill to get on top of the reservoir. The park was very rudimentary and hardly anyone was around. There was a sandy pebble path for pedestrians to walk. Hardly any trees there and it offered a good view of the reservoir and the sky. NDP preview show SG60 was going on and you could see them clearly flying across the reservoir. Together with the sunset, you could get very nice photo like apocalypse now poster. I didn't have time to walk around the park. I could see a wooden shed built at one end of the park right behind Pantech Business Hub. I would say it was a nice place to visit to get away from...
Read moreWhat a joy to find this oasis of tranquility in the wild wild west of Singapore.
While the daytime scenery is dazzling and a sight for sore eyes, the night's are lovers delight.
A bit of advice first: avoid 7.30am and 7pm as they do the fogging (midges) around that time. No real harm actually as it is atomized diesel I was told. But you know.....
During the fogging you can see numbers of large monitor lizards slithering off the stone banks. Quite a sight. And if you are lucky you may see them feasting on or fighting over a unlucky fish as breakfast.
An evening walk will be good for the soul after a hectic day of corporate game of thrones. Really, it is almost unreal .... in industrial Pandan-Teban.
Recreational cyclist - this is one undiscovered heaven where a 6km lap around the reservoir awaits you.
Was working in JTC back in 1975, this place has changed from slime dump to heavenly respite. Gone are the slimey and smelly sawmills. Now we have a huge reservoir, sea-sports (canoeing mostly), fishing jetty, and radio-control model boats on weekends. Yeah. Clean air too. Kudos to the Singapore government. And I...
Read moreSunday morning 26/6/22. Begin our leisurely ride from Jurong East near Genting Hotel. Passed trough Teban & into the park. The weather was fine but hugh chunky clouds are forming on the horizon. The place was not crowded at all which was great. Saw a beautiful rainbow! From the park we cycle to Heavenly Wang at Ng Teng Fong Hospital Tower B for breakfast. We then continue our ride through the PCN again to Bt. Batok which near where my friend stays. By this time it was so sunny we decided to take a break again near Blk 156 St.11 where we saw a tent sellng durian by Top Durian Station! Sat down, bought $30 worth of D13 & D24 durians to enjoy. YUMMY!!! Stayed for about an hour & saw lots of people eating durians at lunch which was incredible! The seller was doing a brisk business. The place was almost cleared out by the time we are leaving. After seeing my freind off, I continued my journey back to home base in...
