What I like the location. it is really close to my meeting location but very far from airport n city center. Not too far from mrt station Buona vista and almost all along the way it is covered(weather proof) mall with supermarkets, restaurants, bakery, Starbucks is within walking distance. the view, there is a park view right in front of the window albeit there is a construction during my stay the hospitality of front desk , I've two bookings for two days. Front desk personnel Melvin was smart and courteous enough to help me check in and get paperwork clear in one go so I don't have to go through the hassle of checking out n checking in and changing room toiletries prepare are well thought and adequate. Love the tiny toothpaste in the dental kit. Not only it is handy if you forget to bring your own, the 5ml is good to travel with too. Would be nice if they have lotion as the air-conditioned room can get quite dry.
What needs improvement the cleanliness. There is mould and strand of hair at edge of bath tub -Strands of long golden hair to magically appear on my bath room floor after I left the room to join my friend for dinner on the second day evening. mid length black hair appear under the blanket / comforter( don't belong to me ). I don't know how they get there. I doubt if blanket/ quilt is changed. . -ants came quickly even if I only left plain bread on the desk for less than 15 minutes. Lots of ants. I try to wipe them with tissue and throw it in the dustbin in the bath room. The ant bite me. -the light of the wifi is Abit too bring and affects sleep the carpet is old almost all worn, bare n rough. Very uncomfortable to step on without slippers. confusing entry exit and lifts. There are three exits to park avenue Rochester. Apart from the one opposite the front desk( that I was told the lift is for loading only and the lift for guests is behind the desk ) The other exit that is not in front of the front desk in nearer to train station so naturally it is more convenient to get in and out there. Having used to entering n leaving the premise using the rear exit near the cafe as it is the closest to the mrt, I try to leave the premise using rear exit the next morning heading out for my meeting. The cafe staff stop me rudely asking for ticket to go through the front desk she is manning the desk serves breakfast for guest. I said I am just passing by getting out. She point at the exit behind me and said in an equally rude way telling me to exit there instead. Her tone made me feel as if I am a beggar coming to the restaurant begging for food and being thrown out, in stead of a paying guest. There are many ways to convey message and different tone would make the same message sound entirely different. ( If she dislike her job and people she is facing she can very well quit) Clearly she thinks she is the boss or god like and nobody gets pass her and can't be bothered to learn to speak like a human or someone who works in hospitality industry. there isn't any mini bar item in the fridge as advertised in agoda, only empty fridge. No bottled water and the front desk staff claimed that it is safe to drink from the tap in Singapore. there is smell of mould when water starts running in the shower in the morning. I am not sure if this is a common problem In hotel these days or the hotel need to do some major cleaning with plumbing. the temperature of the hot water shower is Abit of extreme..either no hot water at all or the water is so hot that it could burn your skin. No matter how I tune and turn there is no in between. the sound proof is very poor in this hotel. I can hear activities next door, people opening n closing room doors, pulling their curtains and opening and closing ( almost banging ) their fridge door and their phone alarm. -alot of the free mask free sanitizer, temperature check, staff with mask..etc that were pertaining to covid / pandemic measure still listed in agoda has been relaxed. I saw sanitizer at front desk but I didn't ask of mask...

I did send in an inquiry through the website form requesting for details. The response we receive were quite "robotic" and wasn't given additional details such as deposit amount requirement etc. Maybe, they could consider to adopt GEMS - Go-The-Extra-Mile. And be friendly. Not robotic.
On the day of the check in, we were greeted by Ms Samantha. She was amazing. We could see the professionalism that she portrays. She was quick to check us in with no hassle. It was overall smooth. She provided us a complimentary upgrade as our room type booked was fully taken.
HOWEVER. After Ms Samantha, almost everything went downhill.
Room. We felt that the room was too sterile. The photos taken and used to sell the rooms on AGODA were unfortunately not the same as reality. It was a little disappointing as we purchased the room based of the warmth the photos provided us. But it could be because of the COVID restrictions previously is what made them remove most of the misc items.
RUBBISH. We found a big plastic bag filled with used diapers and other types of rubbish hidden beside the night curtain. However, seeing that it was our first staycation in 5 years we thought, okay, human error, we did call down and got someone to come up to remove it. We believe Ms Samantha did call the room and sincerely apologised again.
Breakfast. It was very unwelcoming. I was told if we were to pay there straight, I would get 20% discount off. That was the only assistance we receive. We went in. Assigned a table. And nothing. No instructions or guidance from the wait staff or managers. The menu was Italian. The restaurant staff was also aware that I was had a 4 year old with me. He was literally standing beside me. The menu wasn't even breakfast friendly. Menu based on what was placed on the table.
Swimming Pool. We were grateful that there were no booking of time slot for pool usage etc. However, it wasn't what we were expecting. The jets were not turned on. The deck chairs and tables were all over the place. Hotel patrons had to literally drag the deck chairs on their on because it was initially placed not in the right corner. Photos on AGODA were very far from reality. If facilities are under maintenance, do put up a signage to indicate so.
Housekeeping. Bed sheets were not changed. When we called down, we were only told bed sheets will be changed 2 days once. Yes, we did a 3 days 2 nights, so that means, we will not get clean bed linen throughout our stay. We were not told of this rule when we checked in. I tried to look for FAQ anywhere to state that this was the rule. I wasn't able to find any. I don't think it is nice to literally shove this rule down ALL your guests' throat especially when they are short staying. If it is for long term guests, this would be understandable. I was quite upset and my child was cranky thus, definitely not feasible to get the housekeeping back into the room to change them even if offered.
Cleaning Protocol. We are sure that you have a procedure for room cleaning. I was in the hotel industry in both front of house and housekeeping. No sweeping? No Mopping? No Dusting? Impossible. We found so many hairs, dust after housekeeping came and clean the room. Do they not report defects to the engineering as well? Lights fused also wasn't informed. After seeing the room condition after housekeeping, I really did not want to stay. It questioned the credibility of your hotel's housekeeping team.
We will come back only because Ms Samantha was very welcoming and warm. We felt like she greeted us like we were family. And the room amenities. That is all.
Maybe to some, the amount we paid were not to high. But to us, it is a lot and it was supposed to be a great memory. But unfortunately. We were left disappointed. The cleanliness are not what a 4 Star Hotel...

Park Avenue Rochester, you have my Gemini heart! My partner and I stayed from June 15th to 18th, 2024, and what an experience it was! We were looking for rest, rejuvenation, and a cozy havenânot a love nestâand thatâs exactly what we got.
First Impressions The booking process was a breeze. I cheekily mentioned in the "Special Instructions" that it was my birthday month, and guess what? We got a room on level 12 with an amazing view. Talk about starting things off on the right foot!
Upon arrival, the reception team, especially Jesne, greeted us warmly and answered all my questions. And then there was Ram, the baggage porter, whose smile could light up a room. He helped us with our medium-sized red luggage and his positive energy was contagious.
The Room Our room was a sanctuary. My partner has a fear of the cold, so we requested two single blankets and an extra pillowâone for my leg, another for my arm. They delivered everything promptly. The best part? My partner, who has back and shoulder issues, slept like a baby and woke up pain-free. Magic? No, just a superbly comfortable bed.
Bathroom Bliss Now, letâs talk about the bathroom. I practically moved in. With ample space for all my skincare products, a spot for my laptop and speaker, I spent hours in there pampering myself, listening to Celine Dion, and eating chicken rice. Yes, you read that right. The bathroom was my mini-spa and concert hall. The filtered water tap next to the regular tap was a brilliant touch, too. Kudos for the green initiative!
Service with a Smile Throughout our stay, we met Kimberly, Masmira, Hairuddin, and Room Attendant Wang Jiao, who all went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Wang Jiao, especially, was always checking in on us with a smile and a friendly chat.
The Lift That Could And who could forget the lift? It seemed to have a mind of its own, always opening just in time as we approached. It's like it knew we were coming and decided to make us feel special. Little details like this make all the difference.
In Conclusion Our stay was nothing short of fantastic. We left Park Avenue Rochester with our hearts full and smiles wide. Will we be back? If the stars align and the universe allows it, absolutely!
Thank you, Park Avenue Rochester, for an unforgettable...
