Expozícia ľudovej architektúry a bývania - Skanzen Humenné — Attraction in Humenné

Cute little open air-museum, that may surprise. In comparison with the more renowned museums of Slovakia, it has still a decent collection of houses, artifacts, information ... and something that is hard to just "make" - the atmosphere. The Upper Zemplin regional touch.

The guidance is seasonal, it varies. Some years ago I had a wonderful chat with a person working there, about the collections, architecture, the folk crafts - it was genuine, spontaneous, human. In 2021, the guide took us only to a church, recited the memorized text, ultra-fast ... and was overall cold, almost unfriendly. Matter of luck.

I would welcome some more sensual elements. I liked the fact that the museum has its own orchard and one can taste the fruit in the season. Preserving old varieties of trees and fruits would be an excellent combo. The potato/corn field looked slightly abandoned. More flowers that used to be grown in the grandmothers' gardens in the region - would be cheap and still impressive feature. And the food - at least seasonally, on some day - a taste of the local (or even forgotten) peasant...

Skanzen is relatively small, but rich in folk architecture. The dominant feature is the beautiful all-wooden church, built in 1764 without using a single nail. Skanzen Humenné je miesto, ktoré odporúčam navštíviť všetkým, ktorí navštívia mesto Humenné a jeho centrum. Skanzen sa nachádza v tesnej blízkosti hlavného centra mesta. Pri prechode vstupu do skanzenu akoby sa človek vrátil v čase a dobe. Každý domček ukrýva a ukazuje niečo z histórie našich predkov a ich života. Ukážkový je hlavne kostol, ktorý sa nachádza v strede skanzenu. Je to drevený kostolík v ktorom sa každoročne konajú omše a rôzne udalosti. Vnútorné maľby a fresky sú jedinečné. Vrelo odporúčam si vziať hlavného sprievodcu, ktorý Vám poskytne detailný opis a výklad ku kostolíku. Tento skanzen je síce menší, ale určite nikto neoľutuje...
