Smartno to Solkan. Stage 20 Guidebook says: “family and dog friendly walk, easy difficulty. 13.75km, 4h35m. Safe and well marked trail”. David and Caroline say: “6hours, and 18 km of the most brutal, ankle breaking, rough, hot, and potentially lethal trail we’ve ever walked in our lives. It makes southern Africa look sensible. Either the Slovenian people are made of Vibranium or the person who wrote this trail guide has never walked an inch of it. The GPS is very poorly quantised and the route is full of deviations. That cliff edge walk along Soča is astonishing, but at one point we were clinging onto the rough cliff face of loose karst on crumbling rocks above 1000 foot drop into the river. Read moreA know well stage 10, 11, 12 and 13 (from Grahovo ob Bači to Bovec) and they are very beautiful. Allong this stages you walk beside or very close to emerald Soča river. You can also swim in Soča river, although is very cold, but clean. In Tolmin I highly recommend to visit Tolmin Georges. Because stage 11 is very short one you will have time for this.
