A Culinary Journey Through Confusion
Some restaurants take pride in tradition. Others… well, they seem to take pride in making you question your life choices.
Let’s start with the frika—usually a rustic, comforting dish, but here it was more of an uninspired attempt. The slanina? As local as a gas station sandwich. The cheese? A relentless avalanche of pre-shredded monotony, generously applied to nearly every dish as if it were some sort of universal seasoning.
Then came the veal roast. Or at least, that’s what the menu claimed. What actually arrived looked more like a failed carpaccio experiment—thin slices, no depth, no soul. If I had wanted translucent meat, I’d have ordered prosciutto.
But the real showstopper? The so-called “standing” trout on potatoes. A dish that, to its credit, at least provided some comic relief before the inevitable eye-roll. Why was it standing? Why was it balancing on potatoes like some bizarre circus act? Some questions are better left unanswered.
At the end of the day, this is a place you can confidently skip. There are plenty of restaurants that understand how to treat traditional dishes with the respect they deserve (Bistro 9:45,...
Read moreIn two words: very bad. One star is even too much honor for this place. To start with the food: not good. Quickly moving on to the worst waiter ever (who I think was also the owner): shamelessly rude, exentric in all the wrongs ways en and totally not funny (although he thinks he is). He insulted my girlfriend by making sexist jokes, and by behaving inappropriately towards her. When I confronted him, he got mad. When I asked for extra fries he got mad. When I didn't want to pay for food I dind't order. Indeed, he got mad. He seemed like the person who would comment on a negative online review from a customer by blaming the customer, calling him dishonest, basically moving responsibility elsewhere. Oh, and of course he would do that in a language the customer wouldn't understand (let's say Slovenian). Thank god for Google Translate! We highly recommend going to the Trenta Valley, it is such a beautifull place. And we highly recommend avoiding this restaurant. Afterwards, we had a good laugh about it, drinking some beers in a bar down the street. And went on enjoying our super vacation in...
Read moreWARNING!!! When you ask for the price of the room they will say the per head price but not ask you how many people are staying. When I asked them the price of the room they said 44Euro....so I assumed it was 44Euro for the room. AT NO TIME DID THEY ASK ME HOW MANY GUESTS WERE STAYING. Thinking it was good value I took it. They then did a strange thing: They asked for passports. I gave them both passports (my wife and I) then I offered to pay they said that my sister was coming in at 8pm (this was 5pm) and will process it then. We took our bags up to the room and moved into the room. We had dinner and when I asked for the food bill the room bill was added for 89euro. I asked them why it wasn't 44 euro...they said that was the per head price. I said you never told me that...they of course said they did. If they had've we would never have stayed there as 89euro was out of our budget. They held our passports so I had no option but to pay. THIS PLACE...
