Really brilliant zoo. I’ve never seen so many and such high-quality extra amenities in a zoo. Very wide variety of species. Some of the enclosures are very spacious (e.g. for the lovely Lynx.) (One exception is the wolves seemed cramped) Every species had a very well designed and extremely detailed info board (including diet, conservation status, social structure, predators, etc…). Multiple insect hotels and a lovely wooden rest station/bird watching point at the top of hill at the far end. The play activities were amazing, an abundance of really good wooden climbing frames, bouncy balls, trampolines. The pizza had no right being so good for a zoo cafe. It was the cheapest I’d had so far in Ljubljana for its quality and size. Good size for 2 people. Chips were nicely done too. Very very cheap. I imagine it’s well subsidised (although I used the Ljubljana card). The overall zoo goes up a hill into the forest and it’s a beautiful walk. I went in winter, it was perfectly fine with the snow. In fact there was almost no one there and it might have made the animals more comfortable to come close.

The experience was quite disappointing, the animals didn’t have enough space to live. The elephant was walking around its cage and you could see a hole it had dug between the wall and the door trying to find its way out. The sea-lions’ habitat was extremely dirty and small. On top of that, we had to pay full price and as we were walking around trying to see the animals, we couldn’t see most of them. Some were hidden behind trees and some were just closed. We were so excited to see the red pandas but we couldn’t because their habitat was closed and they didn’t give us any explanation. And to top it off some of the animals weren’t even there; the tigers, the cheetah and some monkeys were missing. I understand that they were remodeling the tigers’ habitat and the cheetah unfortunately had passed away but we could’ve at least been informed and received a discount because half of the animals weren’t there.

The best ZOO in Ljubljana. Lots of animals, sea lions, regular lions, tigers, leopards and cheetahs. You've got bears, wolves, ibex and even rain deer. Lots of small animals as well ranging from bugs, snakes, lizards, birds to capibaras. Elephants, zebras, giraffes and chimps. Loads more I havent mentioned. The ambient is quaint, there's a bar and lots and lots of children playgrounds with slides, sand pits and trampolines. It's very popular, very busy and children love it. There's also a bar to drink snack and eat and the prices aren't too over the top. The downsides are mostly how lots of things are dated and haven't been rebuilt and how the toilets look and smell. Facilities should be updated and built more evenly around the park. All in all I deeply recommend for a family day out.

Loved it! Had interacted with the Black and White ruffed lemurs that are endangered species from Madagascar! The 2 little brothers were absolutely amazing and so friendly!! 5 stars and even more to Mary at the ticket box office that after a few phone calls to her team, made an exception for me that haven’t booked this experience in advance and got it right on the spot! Thank you Mary, you are absolutely wonderful! You need to prebook if you want an intimate experience with some of the animals weeks in advance. The zoo park itself has a lot of animals to see and enjoy. Not enough staff unfortunately but they all work hard and they are really friendly! I definitely recommend to visit this zoo if you have time to Ljubljana. Worths it!

Nice and friendly zoo, with a fair selection of the typical zoo animals. Always questionable if a zoo should exist and if we should visit it. Still, this one has reasonable space for the animals and they looked really healthy and shining. Only the elephant was a bit sad and lonely in our idea. Good for a couple of hours walking in the forest and on the hill with a look at great cats and several types of elk, moose and mountain goat. But also giraffe, sea lion and camels were present. Couple of small playgrounds, one nice little cafe in the centre of the zoo. Toilets were clean and sufficient. They sell the vegan magnum at the café. Reasonable ticket prices of 10 eur for an adult, discount for children students and seniors.

I love this little zoo. I go here quite often. I think it’s a great place to go not only to see animals, but you also have a nice time just walking around in quite a natural setting. It’s fun to see it when they are feeding the animals. I think the some of the animals there should have bigger enclosures, so hopefully they will be able to extend the size of the zoo soon. It’s good to support the Ljubljana Zoo, so they can invest more care into it, as i see it is a small zoo with a lot of potential to improve over time! It’s great to also see the baby animals! There is a restaurant that’s not that bad, good pizza, pretty good service. They also have clean (enough) bathrooms. Must see when travelling to Ljubljana. ♥️
