I am genuinely baffled by the reviews this place has. We booked here and had been excited about our visit given the positive reviews.

The food was distinctly average at best, Lamb shank, supposed to be served with a deep red wine jus, was actually served with a cheap tasting tomato pasta sauce. The lamb itself whilst tender and fell off the bone had very little flavour to rescue itself from the sauce. Ostrich fillet was a actually okay, but nothing to write home about.

Service. Was. Terrible. Besides taking our drinks order when we sat down, we had very little service from anyone throughout our visit. Maybe this was just due to the waiter covering our area. We could see another waiter in another area doing what seemed like a great job. Our waiter on the other hand was completely non-existant. Missed sides off our order. Never returned at any point during our meal for us to question it's whereabouts. Eventually appeared to clear our plates once we'd finished but offered us no desert menu... Just left us with our own thoughts, questioning our decisions in life, wondering why on earth this place has the reviews it has for in excess of 10 minutes before a different waiter asked if we were okay. Asking to see deserts he brought the menu over, where we were again, we were left with our own thoughts, questioning our decisions in life, wondering why on earth this place has the reviews it has for in excess of 10 minutes. The same waiter that brought us the menu (who was not supposed to be covering the area we were in) noticed we hadnt had an order taken and came over to take our order. After eventually receiving our deserts, the same story on repeat to get the bill.

We didn't much feel like the service we had received warranted any tip at all , but none-the-less we added a small tip to the bill total. Only to be met with a tut by the waiter that had been missing the whole visit - my wife and I sat there thinking "you're lucky to be getting anything at all!"

All in all I wouldn't recommend this place. I note they have various branches across Capetown so maybe the are better. It wasn't even busy during our visit so there really was no excuse. We have had better food and FAR better service during our stay in Capetown. I'd much rather eat else where and...

With a heavy heart I have to write this. I came here in 2022 and I was so excited to come back again and show my husband this place. We were off to great start, the waiter was friendly and helped us by choosing the wine, so far so good! The Startes were great, l ordered a Rip eye steak 400g, I was so excited, but when it came I could not believe what I saw, it had tow pieces, it looked like they cut off too little and decided to put an extra piece to it, to meet the 400g. Also the meat didn't look like a Rip eye steak at all, but I thought I'll try it anyway, because I didn't want to ruin the moment, BIG mistake!!!! l don't know what this piece of meat was, but it wasn't for sure a Rip eye Steak! It was every tough and dry, I wasn't able to chew it properly. I didn't eat most of it and when the waiter came to clear the table, I told him what I didn't like about it and he apologised for it and he said, I'll talk to the chef about it, so far so good, but when he came back, I could not believe what he told me. He said to me, that he spoke to the chef and he told him that they have a hard time to get a decent Ripe eye steak in the first place and since 2 week they are having complaints about the quality from the guests and the chef also isn't happy about the bad quality of the steak and from tonight on, they will stop serving this steak. I could not believe it!!!! In my opinion a chef is there to make sure that his/her food has the best standard and when he/she knows the steaks dosen't meet the standards and they still sell it, for me that is customer fraud. And the worst thing about it was, they didn't even try to make it up to me, by offering something or taking it off the bill, I bad to pay they full price, even they knew the steak wasn't good and they told me so. I can't e you how upset I am. From know on I’ll take my money...

If you want food poisoning - come along! Had THE worst experience at this restaurant. It is grubby and needs a good deep clean! There were so many things that went wrong during my visit here. I have reached out to the management directly to discuss but they have not even bothered to respond, hence the sharing of my review on here. Our table was not ready even though we made a reservation. When we got to our table we were in a section where there was a large party of 13. We were being served by the same waiter who was looking after this section and it was too much for him. As a result, we came second fiddle to the service. I was drinking my water and discovered that the glass was dirty - it smelt so bad. I asked for a new glass. My starter came (calamari) and it was so rubbery that I could have bounced it off the floor! It was clear that the food had been sitting under a lamp for a long time waiting to be served. Next up was the main course. My beef was also sat under a lamp for a long time - this was obvious by the film of skin that had by now formed on my sauce. Overall the experience was appalling. The morning after dining here, I was struck with the most horrific food poisoning. I solely lay the blame with the food I had here, the dirty glass and the overall filthiness of the restaurant. This totally ruined the last 48 hours of my holiday and I had to fly back - still unwell. 3 courses of tablets did not clear up the virus I contracted from this restaurant. I would not recommend including this branch of Hussars in your...
