Don't get me wrong, Bakhoven beach is STUNNING. If you want some of the most spectacular sunsets with special sundowners, then this is the spot for it. 5 Stars for scenery However, the ocean water has recently been polluted by the local municipality dumping sewage into the sea water in the area (the smell and sudden proliferation of seaweed doesn't lie). One can no longer safely and hygienicly swim in this small stretch of water due to this hazard. I love to swim in the ocean, so this is a big upset for me. Unfortunately that's why I can only give Bakhoven a 3 star rating. If the local municipality wasn't up to sh#t (pun intended) then this place would be a 6/5 stunner of a sunset destination.

Beta beach. Literally no parking so park on main road and follow NSRI sign to beach. Breathtakingly beautiful little beach witth lots of rocks to sunbath on. Gets very packed on a nice day so go early. These are some rare pictures of the beach with no one on it at 10 45am on a Thursday morning. Temperatures was 19 outside with a slight westerly breeze hence a darker looking sea. Usually turquoise blue. Definitely attracts a younger crowd!

Perfect place for sundowners and to watch the sunset! Theres a cozy sandy bay and awesome rock formations to sit and relax on. A very popular spot! Get there early to grab good seats but theres so much space and many spots, you won't miss out. You can go swimming if you're bold enough, the waters very cold but placid. Bring blankets and snacks, whatever your fancy. Everyone sits together, so you can meet some new people too

This is definitely one of our favourite beaches in Cape Town. It's less crowded during high season and a perfect place for the kiddies, too. You'll find huge boulders which protect you from the wind, it has grassy and sandy strips for the kids to play in, they can search for beautiful seashells, the water is shallow enough to safely walk in and you can take great swims in the water.

The beach is also home to a Sea Rescue Crew and has been declared a heritage area. It's a great spot for sunbathing, sundowner evenings and a chilled time at one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town. The locals often refer to it as Beta Beach instead of Bakoven Beach.

There is also a toilet and you reach the beach after a short walk down a staircase. Parking is limited, so you should get there early to secure...

Bakoven Beach is one of Cape Town’s hidden gems. Tucked away between rocky outcrops, it offers a serene escape from the busier nearby beaches like Camps Bay. This small, intimate spot has crystal-clear waters and incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean, perfect for those looking to unwind or take in a gorgeous sunset. It’s less crowded, giving it a more relaxed, almost private feel—ideal for a quiet swim or sunbathing on the smooth boulders.

Parking can be tricky due to its popularity with locals, so it’s best to go early. The area is well-maintained, and there are some excellent coffee spots and eateries nearby. If you’re after a picturesque beach day without the hustle and bustle, Bakoven Beach is...
