the common is one of the things that make Noordhoek worthy of 5 stars. Thanks to the owner's of Sunbird farm for all they do to keep the common great by maintaining the river alongside Avonrust (most don't know but the river is actually on their property and they leave it open to public so you may enjoy walking there) and for the horses on the common (most photographs taken in Noordhoek) also thanks to Sunbird for providing the majority of funds that go to maintaining the common and fighting legal issues (like stopping site 5 from being built on the common so years back) Thanks Lyn, Clive, Erin and Kristin Green for all your farm and family have done for noordhoek and the common. (you should also know that they owned Silver mine and made that national park that's why it's still called Sunbird...

The Common is a slice of heaven, a sanctuary, a place of safety, stability, and peace. If you looked up the word calm in the dictionary, this is what you’d see. There’s a quiet magic here that makes it easy to slow down and just breathe.

Whether you’re sitting under the trees lost in a good book, painting, journaling, or simply watching the horses graze, it’s impossible not to feel at ease. The gentle sway of the swings, laughter echoing from kids’ parties, or celebratory 21st picnics, each moment feels effortlessly perfect.

Even the simple weekly dog walks are grounding, saving my mental space and reminding me why this place is so special. The Common is a haven for reflection, connection, and joy, a place where every visit restores your...

The Common became a regular spot for us since we got our dog. He is always extremely excited when we park and he realises where we are. It is a beautiful space that so many people use for different reasons, some for exercise, some for picnics with friends and family, some bring their kids to play, some bring their doggos, sunset walks with a partner. Everyone is usually very friendly and respectful of each other. There is a very nice area for kids to play with different types of swings hanging from the big trees, and there is a lovely stream where kids can get their feet wet and play in the mud, also many trees for them to climb. There is plenty of parking right in front of the Common, as well as across the street, and all...

An excellent green open space area to walk with or without ones kids, dogs, family and more. The space is very large which it's great to run wild and get some good fresh air. There is parking close by on the main road and down the side streets however I would recommend parking at the farm village. There are sometimes horses on the far side of the field so dog walks be careful and parents watch the kids, as they may lose their minds and get to excited.
