My favorite park in Cape Town #dog #dogsoftiktok #park #green #explore

De Waal Park is a lovely experience as it is a well-kept and central park. The atmosphere is stunning as many dog owners bring their lovable pets here to wade in the fountain, socialize and run about. Awesome to see happy animals (Warning though: pet owners often still need to learn the skill of picking up doggy poop so expect some landmines and smells here and there). The trees are also fantastic and well-established as they stand like mythical creatures from a forgotten era. The visible policing was also a welcome sight and city council was cleaning up whilst we were there. The public toilets are clean and functional. There is a large gazebo, and tables all over, so perfect for picnics and park lunches. There are no braai facilities, so rather prepare any food beforehand. The large , and well layed-out children's playground also attracts parents with their kids. Definitely a great park to consider for a picnic.

De Waal Park should be renamed Dog Park. 😁 Wonderful space to walk dogs off lead. Most dogs visiting de Waal Park are socialized and well behaved. The fountain is used as a space for dog's to swim and cool off. The park is popular on weekends for picnics, and there's several spots under trees with large tables and benches to accommodate those who don't wish to sit on picnic blankets. Monday to Sunday you can grab a coffee from the coffee vendor in the park and sit and enjoy the sounds of the water flowing in the fountain, work, or watch the squirrels! There's also a play area for children with some swings, slides etc.

De Waal Park, where to even begin. I've been going to this park almost every single day for the past 8years since living in Cape Town. This is not just a pet friendly park, but you will get to come accross numerous different animals, from squirrels, different types of birds, including the occasional eagles. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. There is an absolute fun and amazing kids park for play dates and just general fun time. This park is also perfect for picnics and hosting special occasions like birthdays...etc, with loads of space, tables and seating. They have a little coffee shop that's perfect for those early birds needing their coffee fix on those early walks. They also occasionally have the free concerts of local and international artist, open for anyone from anywhere to join. There is loads of parking and security for peace of mind when enjoying your walk. There is a wonderful guided tour of all the trees in the park with facts and history,...very interesting. They have a big water feature/fountain in the middle of the park, where kids can splash and play in and where the fur kids can cool down. The entire park is secured with gates and walls to insure that there are no run aways. So definitely highly recommend De Waal Park to everyone...

Other than living very close to the park and loving being able to take my dog there, the park is beautiful and well kept. There's 80% of the time poopbags for our fluffy friends (which is free of charge!). There's a solid community and if you go often, you will always see the same faces which is great. However, I don't necessarily feel super safe at the park when I'm there early (before 7am) or late, as there are lesser privileged persons that sometimes sleeps there, and from time to time you see the remnants of personal items that seems like they were stolen scattered around. Few tips - if you have a dog that isn't well socialized, please keep him on leash for the safety of other dogs. Don't feed other peoples dogs. Pick up your pets' poo. And enjoy the beautiful little...
