Eckards Garden Pavilion — Attraction in Gauteng

I have visited a few nurseries in the area and am impressed by the quality of their plants as well as the knowledge and service of their staff. I have bought plants from a nearby unnamed nursery only to be dissapointed with a plant that turned out sickly & near death whilst every plant I have bought from Eckarts has thrived, despite my not-so-green thumb. The rewards program is also helpful for those who regularly stock up here. Would be great if they had a coffee shop on the premises, however the grounds are well kept, neat, organised and there is plenty of variety. Simply way overpriced. Nice garden center with healthy plants but the price premium at this place is just not worth it. I love gardening and have a massive garden and visit many garden centers around Gauteng and Eckards simply stand out above the rest in terms of price, when I was there other day and saw the price premium was around 20% to 100% more for identical species/variants and items I purchased days earlier at another nursey I decided to leave and not...

I bought a camellia for R900. They offered to pot it for us at the back, which seemed helpful. Brought it home and after a few weeks, it started to die so I decided to repot it and see what was happening with the roots. The roots were so rootbound, almost bonsai. They had not released any of the roots when they took it out of the plastic, jut reported as is. The roots were so dry, despite the soil around them being moist. Terrible service...
