Lovely local market to buy some fresh produce and also grab an awesome breakfast from a wide variety of stallls. Beware though - seating is limited and everything is communal seating, so the stalls don't have their own seating. That said it's a great opportunity to chat to random people you share a table with. The food ranges from German to 'Boere' to Indian to fresh pressed veggie juices. There is also a crafts section and some other stalls selling anything from clothes to wooden toys. There is a nice family play area for the kids, and parking is ample out of season. High season can be a bit of a squeeze. The market is open Saturdays from 08h00 to 14h00.

My wife and I met and got to know very friendly people there. My wife bought some jewelry there. The saleswoman was very nice. After we got talking to her, she asked us why we looked so happy. I thought it was a strange question, but my wife replied that we were traveling to South Africa on our honeymoon. We got earrings as a gift with the jewelry. My wife was very surprised and accepted the gift with appreciation. In addition to jewelry, there are lots of different things to eat there. Like at a street food festival. However, you are more likely to find locals there than tourists.

This is such a big outdoor market. Many vendors from gifts, clothing, utensils, decor, clothing, hats, handbags, leather items to food, drinks, artisinals as well as fruit and veg. There is a lovely atmosphere with live music and gorgeous food smells guiding you as you walk through. There are tables and chairs as well as some with games where you can relax under a tree to have a quick Checkers game. There are lavatories for men and women. Parking is plenty. It is well worth the visit when you are in the area on a Saturday morning and the market closes at 2pm.

Amazing place for a Saturday morning, loads of open air stalls with a variety of good quality, and more than likely home made items and freshly prepared food and drinks. Also lovely outdoor playpark and tractor rides, go kart rides for the kids.

Only things is that there was very few halaal eateries, and the market closed up shop at 2pm, leaving the visitor wondering what to do next. And for a visiting capetonian, this is so strange. In summer time especially, there is at least 6 more hours until sunset, so it would be lovely if the market could close at a later time, say 5pm or 6pm. As the town of George is abuzz with life over the festive season, this would be a great idea and a lot more people would visit the market during this period. Even if the longer hours were just for festive periods, that...

The best way to start the weekend. There are 4 options. George - Outeniqua family market, Wild Oats Saturday market in Sedgefield, the Harkerville Saturday market. The Outeniqua family market is comparable to the Sedgefield wild oats market, but the good thing is, it is less crowded and it offers plenty of options of street food stalls and hand crafted goodies and alternative entertainment for kids! After the market if you are a tourist (family) you could continue your day at the red berry farm (10min drive) or at the lion and reptile park (just around the corner 2min drive away) , both places are very much fun and very educational! A BIG THANK YOU to all the farmers market people who keep our garden route attractive and keep the quality of life...

The recent visit to the Outeniqua Family Market was quite disappointing, especially regarding the beverages. The coffee, unfortunately, was served at an excessively high temperature, making it nearly impossible to drink without risking a burn. Compounding the issue was the fact that there was only one vendor, leading to long wait times and a lack of variety.

The juice options were equally underwhelming. There were no fresh juices available, and the pre-packaged ones provided were undrinkable, lacking in both flavor and freshness. For a market known for its variety and quality, this was a significant letdown. Overall, the beverage situation left much to be desired and detracted from the otherwise enjoyable...
