Been looking forward to eat at Ocean Basket after more than 6 years abroad. Walked in and there were about 6 tables with customers. No one greater us at the door, so we found our own spot to site down in the outside area. We had to clear our own table as there was dirty tables all around, sat down and 20min wait until a waiter showed up, dragging her feet as she approached us. Ordered drinks, by this time there was only 3 tables occupied by clients, and it took another 20min for our drinks to arrive. All this time the waiters and wish I presume was chatting away and laughing at the area where they collect the food. Needles to say the beer ( from the tap) was warm and did not go down well. We ordered and when the food arrived after another 30min, by wich time no one came to ask if we would like more drinks, once again the waiters chatting and laughing with the presumed chef. The food arrived, but the extra sauce did not show up, after flagging down our waiters she eventually decided to bring it over to us, still chatting and laughing away. We were 4 people and the realized we only received cutlery for 3 people and once again had to flag down the waiter. The food was the worst I have ever had at any Ocean Basket. There was so much butter that I had to scoop it out. There was so much butter, I could not taste the calimarii or the praws. I had a few bites, and could not stand the taste of the butter flavors wich was supposed to be garlic. My son is a young man and he took over my plate as well. To the owner I would like to say that your staff in costing you money, they just seem to be not interested in your customers. After I payed and left, I stoped at Mc Donald's wich was much better than my food at your establishment. You need to step up your game, train your staff beter, make sure the place is clean when customers arrive. Not a...
Read moreWe had dinner last Friday evening at the OB Restuarant. Our waitress was Nicole. What a breath of fresh air. She really made our evening. We have been supporting OB ever since they started in Gauteng, then Cape Town and now George. In all those years I have almost always had one of the combo dishes namely prawn and calamari. However, for the first time in all those years Nicole who has only had a few months experience suggested that as we are not big eaters that we share the platter for one and then add prawns or calamari as a top up. What an excellent idea and the meal was exactly to our taste. She then persuaded us to try the don Pedro [ delicious] followed by the baklava [ which was rather dry], the bread rolls were also dry. Throughout the evening Nicole would keep checking on us if all was well and nothing was too much trouble. She is most certainly proficient, confident and an asset to your company. Well done, Nicole, keep up the good work.
Kind Regards, Chris and...
Read moreI just had one of my restaurant experiences with a racist and undermining manager, Tristan. Firstly this woman did not greet me when I walked in and had a not so friendly expression on her face. Later as I'm about to leave, I ask her for my bill she doesn't acknowledged me ir say anything. A few minutes later, i look at her and she says someone will come, speaking from a distance. I asked her why she did not acknowledge me and why she doesn't come to my table. She got irrited and left. WOW! I asked if there's anyone I can speak to and my lovey waitress said no. I am now here about to leave and this lady is hiding her self in the back! Terrible experience! I can't believe there's literally no one to speak to. Even the waitresses say there's no number to call except to speak to this manager who just left me hanging. Anyway, I am going home. Such an...
