Whilst on holiday I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant. The rating I have given it is due to a number of factors. On the whole this store out performed others and set a standard that other Spurs should aim for.
5 lots of the unreal breakfast were ordered with bar one milkshakes. The milkshakes had notably more chocolate sauce. Each order containing toast had its own side plate and was wrapped in a serviette to keep it warm and moist plus it contained a butter knife (not done at previously visited Spurs - piled on one plate, only steak knives available). The bacon was also notably more smokey than other Spurs visited to date.
We also observed the Spur's signature happy birthday to one of the staff. This showed a good community in the staff and may have lead to the staff's smiles thought our visit.
Additionally we received a goodbye and had the door opened for us as we departed.
Thanks to Samantha (our server) and the rest of the team.
Pros - Bathroom gave the options for both hand soap or sanitizer and paper towels or air dryers Servers were friendly, this was observed across other tables and servers, not just our's. Individual side plates for each visitor's toast. Cons - The manager didn't come visit us at the table (but he did say goodbye as we departed) - this was not a big deal as we were well looked after.
I am aware this is not the same experience shared by all on google maps but the whole group I was with was...
Read moreWe have been spur patrons for a very long time, even in my own youth. Talking 30 + years. Today we went to catch up with friends, looking for somewhere our kids could also play. Having come from lunch we just wanted to snack, we ordered 16 wings (meal) and a mushrooms (always delicious) our kids ordered the cheese burgers and we ordered some drinks. We then heard one of the managers talking derogatory to one of the waitresses and were not happy with his condescending tone. We then were approached by another manager who asked if we were going to each order a main meal, we said no as we had just come from checkout at Fancourt (Huge Buffet) but rather something to snack. She told us we were not allowed to order any alcohol unless each of us ordered a main meal!!!! What absolute nonsense! She told us to then check their liquor license rules, tucked way behind a plant which stated that on an “off” day no alcohol could be served to anyone not ordering a “regular” meal. Stating that each one of us would need to order a “main” meal to “qualify” in ordering an alcoholic beverage. We then cancelled our kids burgers, went over to Panarottis and were told that it’s the same owner but we could order 2 pizzas share and have drinks with pleasure. You have successfully lost a frequent Spur customer whether it been in Plett,JHB, CPT, George or anywhere. This has put such a bad taste in my mouth and I will make sure people do not go to...
Read moreWe were there as a large family and due to “table space” had to be put over two tables
This would not upset me as I do understand seating etc , but there was not effort made to try and accommodate, especially when there was clearly larger group tables where two / couples were placed and clearly they are group areas! Just disappointed that we had to split a family over two tables with a table between.
Secondly the tables are so small that one sits so uncomfortable. Sour needs to start accommodating the fact that some people are larger and can’t sit in those cramped seating!
The waitress we had was trying and was a helpful as she could be.
The male manager was quite rude to his staff, we were placed right next to the kitchen area so could hear the way he spoke to some of them.
We had one of the staff think that it was the appropriate time to start climbing on the seating and start fixing/installing sine light fitting whilst food was served.
Really an unpleasant experience.
If it was not for the fact that the calamari is a winner at the spur, I’m sure we would have gone elsewhere.
Not a good experience, but I’m sure it can...
