Dolci Café — Restaurant in Gauteng

We arrived at 11 30 and were promptly seated however this is the extent of the timeliness we experienced. Our drinks took about 15 to 20 minutes and we only ordered half way through that time.

We were quite disappointed as in the time it took to receive our order at another restaurant (roughly 25 to 30 mins) we heard the head chef fire off our order which resulted in it being another 20 minutes before we received our food.

It felt like the priority seemed to be focused towards setting up for an event and not for the service of customers currently attending. I understand events can be stressful but the mood and hustle and bustle created an unenjoyable atmosphere. We would have rather been told that the kitchen were closed while they set up for an event as opposed to being seated for a mediocre service.

We ordered the penne pollo and bacon hamburger medium rare. The chicken macaroni (as that was essentially what it was for R155) was bland and had barely a handful of chewy chicken. The burger, although alright, could easily be recreated with R80 and trip to Spar came overcooked and underseasoned. There were also only 7 potato wedges which felt a bit upsetting as the meal cost 160 rand.

Overall, Dolci would be a pretty alright eatery if it was half the price and the head chef didnt spend majority of our time shouting at...

This was my first time back probably since before the COVID lockdown and unfortunately I found it very disappointing.

Compared to my previous experiences, the food was not nearly as good, and while the service was superb, it did not justify the significantly higher prices.

The chicken liver starter was very nice with a well balanced heat from the chili. The accompanying bread was ok although there should have been more of it and it should've been softer and thicker cut. No butter in sight.

The quattro stagioni pizza was exceptionally disappointing. While I admittedly request that the ham be exchanged for additional artichoke, I still want my pizza base to be crisp, or at the very least it should not be soggy... I had to use a knife and fork to eat the pizza (for the first, and hopefully last time).

I was pleasantly surprised with the off-the-cuff cocktail created for a fellow diner... Sipho makes an amazing almost pina colada. On the other hand, my own single shot of tequila was served warm.

Overall, I'm afraid that Dolci Cafe has gone from being "a bit pricey but highly recommended" to "overpriced and...

While this review actually deserves every star in the galaxy, I’m only able to give five.

Last night my fiancé and I enjoyed our last dating anniversary at this beautiful restaurant. I called in advance to have champagne and flower petals prepared on our table, and the gracious and wonderful staff did so and made it such an incredibly special night.

While you might think an overwhelming array of strong, albeit beautiful aroma would permeate from the kitchen, I would suggest the restaurant boasts a subtle, floral scent which allows the diner to enjoy their food, honing in on the senses just that much more because of the surrounding gentle aroma.

Our food was something straight from heaven. We enjoyed a three course meal, savouring every bite. Absolutely nothing was a disappointment. The food, atmosphere, gentle lighting and lovely staff are all something to behold.

Thank you to our wonderful hostess for creating a comfortable and intimate environment filled with incredible drink and outstanding food.
