The view from the veranda is quite lovely, our South African mountains are always a treat and as usual, Franschhoek doesn't disappoint. The floor to ceiling glass, brings in so much light and makes the most of the view The staff are friendly and one lady in particular was very helpful. I am quite sorry that I don't remember her name.
The food was nice albeit I probably wouldn't pay such an exorbitant amount again. I could possibly be a bit spoilt when it comes to the food. My mom has beyond delicious lamb and beef recipes, I cook very well myself and we make amazing salads. So from my perspective with my background, I'd say it was a bit disappointing for the price I paid. Two of my four salads where very bland and tasteless, not what one would expect. The lamb I will say was very tender, juicy with a flavourful gravy. Beautifully done; so if you don't have a mom who can cook like mine, I dare say you might find the lamb a treat. They also have a pork and chicken options for those who don't...
Read moreMy family and I arrived yesterday for lunch, only to realise I had made the reservation for the incorrect day (my mistake). I asked the hostess if there was anything available for us, as we had driven quite far to come and have lunch here.
She was quite dismissive and immediately said no, and then turned around, which was the end of that conversation.
I walked outside with my two kids when another couple walked in, who also didn't have a reservation, asking to be seated for lunch. To my surprise, they were helped immediately!
I told my husband, and he then asked another lady (may I say she was lovely) who worked there if there were any tables available for us. She immediately said yes and that they would make a plan for us, as there were quite a few people leaving.
I am shocked by the unwillingness and dismissive attitude of the first hostess. I would genuinely appreciate understanding why my family was turned away so quickly when others in a similar situation were helped...
Read moreWe have visited the restaurant on numerous occasions. The food and service is always amazing. Well worth the drive from Cape Town. Sadly visiting today, my experience was not as per the normal standard. Shocked at the fact that attendees of a local festival were prioritized over regular restaurant customers. No mask wearing and no control. On arrival the music level was tolerable and venue attendance was under control. However, shortly afterwards a massive spike in attendance, surely meant that lockdown regulations weren't aheared to. As attendance dropped and venue emptied out, the DJs cranked the music to unacceptable levels for no reason. Sadly my respect for Leopards Leap has dwindled and I definitely won't be back. Hopefully your annual festival attendees will support you constantly...
