Jeju International Airport (CJU) is located on Jeju Island in South Korea and serves as a major gateway to the island, especially for domestic flights. The airport handles a large number of domestic flights from Seoul, Busan, and other Korean cities, as well as some international flights from neighboring countries like China and Japan. The airport is relatively small but busy, so you can expect crowds, especially during peak travel seasons like summer and holidays. The airport is about a 30-40 minute drive from Jeju City and major tourist spots, so transportation options like taxis, buses, and car rentals are readily available. If you're renting a car, it’s advisable to book in advance as cars can run out during peak times. Jeju’s public transportation system, while functional, may not be as efficient as in larger cities, so renting a car is popular among visitors who want to explore the island freely. The airport has basic facilities including restaurants, cafes, and duty-free shops, but these are not as extensive as in major international airports. If you’re looking for a quick meal or some last-minute shopping, the selection should suffice, but options may be more limited late at night or early in the morning. Most signs and announcements are in both Korean and English, so navigating the airport should be relatively easy for non-Korean speakers. However, it can be helpful to download a translation app just in case you need assistance outside the airport or while using public transportation. Make sure to arrive early, especially for international flights, as the check-in process can take longer due to crowds, and some airlines may have earlier cut-off times for boarding. Keep in mind that Jeju Airport can get very busy during holidays and weekends, so it’s a good idea to plan your timing accordingly.

Not sure how exactly to rate or describe the international part of the airport. It's clean, that's about the best of it. Information is spars. Only on arrival do you find out that they open check in 2.5 hours prior to departure. Foreigners can't use ticket kiosks. So must use the checkin counters. Then you discover the reason why they only open 2.5hrs prior to departure. Immigration and security don't let you into the gate area unless it's 2 hours prior to boarding. So just don't turn up early. First international Airport that actively dissuades you from being early. No wonder the flights aren't on time. The 2 lounges can't be accessed from the international terminal. Something else you only discover upon arrival. Bring your own food. Immigration service have a habit of clearing out all the food in the CU convenience shops as soon as a new batch arrives. Seriously they take everything. Leave nothing for the airport customers. A very sad affair for an international airport. It's very obvious they concentrate on the domestic market here.

Jeju International Airport is the second largest airport in South Korea, just behind Incheon Airport in Incheon. It is located in the city of Jeju. The airport opened in 1968. Due to the large number of passengers using the airport and its limited capacity, it was announced in 2019 that a second airport would be constructed on the island near the southern city of Seogwipo with an investment of 3.8 billion US dollars. It is expected to open to the public in 2025. As Jeju has gained popularity as a resort destination, the number of international visitors from China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan has increased. In 1997, Jeju airport handled nine million passengers. In 2019, the airport passed the 30 million milestone despite being designed to handle a maximum of 26 million passengers. In 2020, the number of international visitors dropped due to COVID-19. However, the Seoul-Jeju route remained the busiest in the world and flight delays are still common.

This airport is very sufficient, well organized, clean and compact in size. Check in, check out here is so smooth, I wish all airports are like this. The queue line for Taxi outside the airport is awesome considering there were so many people there but the people were very courteous to one another. Very self organized. Very impressed with the Korean travelers. Arrival at Jeju International Airport is 5 Stars for sure. Departure for me is only 3 Stars. After we checked in and got to our gate, wow, what a disappointment. The airport lacks restaurants, cafes and dining area. Once you pass immigration for departure, there are no food outlets, not even vending machines. You definitely need to bring your own food before you get here. They do have water. Thank God. There is a small duty free area, but the prices are so high don't even bother to shop. It would be so nice to even have a small coffee shop at the waiting area or something.
