Took a market tour and class in Feb 2024 with my mom, sister and husband. Chef Kim was so knowledgeable. She's currently earning her PhD in the culinary realm. The market tour was nice because compared to the other markets I'm Seoul, the ones we visited seemed less touristy. There are 5 markets all in one area that I don't remember the names of. Gyeongdong market is the place to be if you want anything. It was helpful to learn about the sellers wares. We bought ingredients at the smaller for our class (she paid for them). She also bought us some traditional treats to try at the market for our class. Our class size was about 9 people. After the tour, we all went to her kitchen which was nearby. Her mother and her friend helped with the class. We cooked so much food - it was all filling and delicious. We made bean sprout soup, Korean pancake and bulgogi bibimbap. Meal also had banchan (of course) and tastes of various Korean alcohols. If you're not into spicy foods, you can control the spice level to your preference. And she was accommodating of allergens and dietary restrictions. She also regularly took pics during the day for you to remember. And if you're not much of a cook, don't worry, it was all very simple and easy to follow. At the end, she gave each of us a simple Korean cookbook. Would...

Nestled amongst Seoul's biggest market, OME Cooking Lab is the perfect place to make amazing Korean dishes and learn about Korean life.
We booked the Kimchi cooking class which started with a tour of the market. As the Food Lab was so close to Korea's biggest fresh produce marke, the tour was super practical to explore the chili, cabbage and garlic vendors. The instructor had intimate relationships with many of the vendors and it was great to hear from them about what's fresh and seasonal.
Once we finished grabbing our ingredients, we headed back to the Food Lab. A cosey, intimate space the cooking lab makes you feel right at home. We chopped, boiled and fried an amazing spread, which we got to enjoy at the end.
During the whole experience, OME Cooking Lab was super friendly, informative and very friendly. We discussed KPop and Jeju Tangerines alongside Kimchi. We also received a very cool cook book at the end with a range of recipes.
If you're in Seoul, definitely make it...
Read moreMinseon's cooking classes are a gem in the bustling city of Seoul. We had the fortune of booking a private cooking class with Minseon. She helped us to create a menu, gave us a very informative and fun walking tour of the market while helping us purchase fresh ingredients, and taught us how to make some incredible dishes. This time, we made mung bean pancakes, kimchi with pork belly, and tuna gimbap.
Minseon's class was not only very hands-on, which is what we were hoping for, but she really personalized the experience for us and made it so much fun. For example, we had mung bean pancakes on the menu, but she added extra ingredients to it based on her recipe and observations of current trends at local restaurants.
We feel so lucky to have found Minseon. She has such a wealth of knowledge and amazing stories to share (ask her about her kimchi making traditions and soy sauce-making excursions). We loved our time with Minseon and would happily do another class with her,...
