Changuimun Gate — Attraction in Seoul

They had asked the wind to take care of it but it was blowing more, devastating its parts . They had left it at our hands that we should love it otherwise it would be turn into a ruined castle but we had loved the other things come over oversea . The had called for lions , trees , deers to spend time with it playing intriguing games , but they had abounded it , making it looking more lonesome .I seemed to hear their breathless sounds they had made when began to build it on the mountain at days and nights and dawns in the wind, rain , snowing and seeing it as a perfectly beautiful a piece of arts i felt how they had felt after they had done it successfully. Sharing their hard working efforts with them . I faced it humbly in front me and was proud enough where i was standing .Their goals and mine are the same to make somthing wonderful on earth .It had taken themselves at least more than a month by foot getting through this gate to meet with Seoul welcoming them . They built it by their own hands on a deep steep mountsin and i heard a rumbling , clicking , rolling over of each stone and staggering , agony breath they had made during the working period and happiness, enjoyments , thrilled feeling after they successfully built it . It is not stone made castle that has more than about 50 miles fances at the edge of mountain ,but it is a bridge connecting us with them who had lived more than 100 years ago and a profound musing piece that has been unveiled to what we want to see to give them passionate applause how long lasting it had been in bad circumstance such as strong wind, earthquake, storm, flooding , kicking them off in a persistent hard mouth with more trained agony and unshakable power . I felt sure they had better knowledge about constructions because it is a still great and giant castle as new one built in recent years. It was a magic door to Seoul ,such a lovely place that every one wished to see it and everything to them was beautiful and everything in it was wonderful and it was seen as glistening marbles to make them trun their heads around , and around along surprised Seoul , wonderful Seoul , loved Seoul , respected Seoul, kind Seoul . it would not forget them .It would respect them . It would not dishonored them . It would not ignore them .It would not humiliate them who had built the castle to defend Seoul feeling always victory when a fighting accurrd to them preventing Seoul that was the most important city in the nation from taking over enemie' s hands attacking on them from so many different directions in many cointries like U.S.A. Japan, China , E.U. .. and they had defeat them so many times relying on it.I love them who had love me for a top security place and I respect them who had respected me to be grown well . On the mountain wherever I wnet I seemed to hear so many strange sounds from under ground , groans, giggling, struggling, crying , fighting, spears clashing , trumpets forcing me to think they still were in a war in another world after death , while making an exclamarion on the lips about the castle that had been made by each beautiful carved stone . I felt receiving a new energy when sharing feeling with them how they had felt about what they had done .You are bright on everyone ' shoulder and shined on everyone ' s eyes because you are a living gate because they had put their souls into you not to fell off by any weapons , storm , thunder and lighting and you are a radiant, fanatic ,attracted , representing symbol of peace most glinting ...

고등학교 동창생 6명이 따뜻하기만한 봄기운의 날씨만 믿고 경복궁역에서 출발하여 석파정까지 도보여행을 떠납니다. 통의동 백송나무 터를 지나고 세종대왕 탄생지 표지석, 통의동 시장, 상춘재 앞 도로길을 따라 걷다보면 송강 정철 생가터 표지석을 만납니다. 도로변 건너편에는 경복고등학교와 경기상업고등학교가 자리합니다. 이동하는 길에는 길가에 새워놓은 표지석은 물론이고 송강 정철의 문학적 평가와 정치적 사건을 비롯한 인간 정철을 담론으로 이야기 꽃을 이어갑니다.

자하문 터널 위로 난 가파른 콘크리트 도로길을 선택하고 오르면 인왕산 성곽 둘레길과 마주하는데 그 곳에서 본 서울 도심지는 희뿌연 미세먼지로 시야를 가려 비교적 가까이에 자리한 남산타워는 물론이고 저 멀리 바라보이는 롯데타워는 아릇한 실루엣 모습으로 다가옵니다. 윤동주시인 언덕길을 내려오면 윤동주문학관이 있고 그 길 건너편에는 최규식 경무관이 북한군 124군부대를 맞아 순직한 곳에 그의 순국정신을 기리기 위한 동상이 우뚝 서 있습니다.

왼쪽으로 난 경사진 길을 따라가면 창의문이 나타나고 창의문 오른쪽 가파른 길은 노무현 정권때 청와대 뒷산을 개방하여 많은 등산객들이 자주 찾는 등산로가 있습니다. 그 길은 숙정문으로 이어집니다. 창의문에 왔으니등산로 이야기는 여기에서 마치고 창의문에 집중하여 글을 쓰겠습니다. 창의문에 대한 구구절절한 내용은 창의문 앞에 새워놓은 안내문을 이용하면 이해가 될 것이니 안내판을 읽어보시는 것으로 대신합니다.

역사가 장구한 문화유산에는 긴 역사에 걸맞는 역사적 이야기가 있게 마련입니다. 창의문 또한 드러난 역사에 비해 숨기고픈 역사적 사실이 아로새겨져 있는 곳입니다. 알고있는 분은 이미 다 알고있는 사실이지만.....그 상식의 이야기를 조선일보 기자인 박종인의 '땅의 역사'에 기록된 내용을 바탕으로 글을 시작합니다. '땅의 역사' 4권 '진실과 비밀' 3장 01 '나에게 팥죽을 쒀준 저 유생을 금부도사로 임명한다'에서 글 서두는 다음과 같습니다.

'참으로 정신없는 정권 초기였다. 벼르고 벼른 끝에 왕을 폭군으로 몰아 쿠데타에 성공했으나 이어 터진 것은 쿠데타 동지의 반란이었다. 어제까지 동지였던 반정공신은 스스로 왕이 되고자 칼을 들었고 왕은 도주했다'로 시작되는데 이 사건은 인조반정으로 왕권을 잡은 인조의 공신들에 대한 논공행상과정에 불만을 품은 이괄이 난을 일으킨 이야기를 표현한 내용입니다. 광해군을 폐위하며 반정에 성공한 인조는 공신 명단 작성을 김류에게 맡깁니다.

김류는 이괄을 2등공신에 책봉하는 명분을 '부대를 나누어 군용을 갖추는 공이 컷으나 반정계획에 늦게 참여했으므로'라는 이유로 이괄을 2등공신에 책봉하였는데 이괄은 매우 억울해 했습니다. 이괄은 한성부 판윤을 거쳐 평안병사로 임명된 것을 기화로 반역을 꾀했는데 이괄의 난으로 인조는 공주로 급히 도망을 가게됩니다. 이괄의 난이 수습된 후 인조는 궁궐로 복귀하는데 그 때 인조가 공주 공산성에서 쉬었다는 큰 나무 두 그루 사이에 숙종이 '쌍수정사적비' 정자를 세웁니다. 그 이력의 비석에 다음과 같이 세 글이 적혀있다 합니다.

'공주산성쌍수정기적비'(신흠) '쌍수정비 음기'(송시열) '쌍수산성기사비 추기'(남구만) 송시열이 1668년에 쓴 '음기'에는 이렇게 적혀있다고 합니다. '쌍수(이괄의 난)를 잊었기에 정묘호란이 터졌고 병자호란이 터졌도다' 이괄을 잘못 대우한 인조가 죄인이라는 비난의 뜻이라하니 남에게는 한없이 냉혹하고 스스로에게 한없이 관대한 정치가 인조의 단면입니다.

이괄의 2등공신 책봉에서 촉발된 이괄의 반란군은 이곳 창의문을 통해 한양으로 진격하였는데 이 창의문은 바로 1년 전 인조반정 군사들이 광해군을 몰아내기 위해 도성으로 진격한 루트였다니 참으로 아이러니합니다. 이 창의문 문루에는 인조반정 당시 공신들 명단이 걸려있는데 이 공신 명단 현판에는 2등공신 이괄의 이름조차 빠져있다고 합니다. 그도 그럴것이 역모의 수괴였으니 그럴만도 합니다.

첨부하여 올린 사진 중 마지막 사진은 창의문을 배경으로 1900년도에 찍은 사진에 나온 기와집을 다시 보수 또는 복원하여 카페로 이용되고 있는 건물인데 카페 벽면의 1900년 사진과 지금의 카페 건물 사진을 비교해 보는 것도 하나의 즐거움입니다. 넓은 창을 낸 기와지붕의 카페에서 따뜻한 차 한 잔하는 것도 하나의 즐거움이겠지만 나머지 일정을 위해 과감히...

This is a review for the BUAM-DONG Village which includes the Changuimun Gate. I LOVED this area. Everyone tried to talk me out of going, telling me it was "way up north", only accessible by bus etc. But it only took about 40 minutes from the Hongdae area - I took a subway and then the bus. Super easy and very pleasant. The village of Buam-dong is really chill with wonderful coffee shops and creative stores. For anyone spending a week or so in Seoul, this is a wonderful day trip that let's you explore another side of Seoul. There's also a great museum there but unfortunately it was...
