Ewha Womans University is a private university in Seoul , South Korea 🇰🇷 . It was founded in 1886 as the first women's college in Korea by Methodist missionary Mary Scranton .

It is one of the largest women's universities in the world and is very well respected in South Korea. Male students are accepted as exchange students [3] and at the university's own language center, the Ewha Language Center [4] . Male students are not admitted to bachelor's, master's or doctoral studies. [5]

The founders decided to use "Womans" instead of "Woman's" or "Women's" because every woman should be respected. Not all students are grouped under the term “women”. [6]

The university is among the first universities in South Korea to seek a government lifelong learning program to allow workers to earn degrees through evening courses.
