This museum is very special to Korean and a symbol of our democratic Korea. It is based on a late scholar named Lim, Jongguk's Japanese colonial studies. He found in 1960s that most of very powerful and respectful people including his own father and President Park, Chung hee were traitors worked for Japan in colonial times. And he found they hided their shameful lifes, furthermore they totally fabricated their careers and achievements to patriats'. So he alone investigated and recorded the traitors' histories eventhough his poverty and their threats. But he died in 1989 without any good results. After his death, his friends tried to tell people his achievements. Finally it opened this August owing to many people's donations and volunteering. There are some patriats' tombs and Bakbeom Kim Gu memorial center near. It is a private museum, so no free admission. But I highly recommend you visit if you want to know why Korea doesn't get along with Japan and normal korean people hate some...

Basically no English explanations anywhere in the museum, which makes visiting it extremely hard for non-Koreans. You will need to use the translation app constantly.. a pity, it looks so interesting with many artifacts from the Japanese colonial era. The museum management should take a look at how Seodaemun Prison History Hall is designed, to see how a museum can be primarily Korean but also incorporate English and other languages, making it accessible...

I tumbled upon this place while wandering around the neighbourhood. The name of the place somehow intrigued me. It was near the closing time (6pm, last entry 5.30pm), so there weren't many people around, which was good as I could appreciate the place in peace.

It's not a big museum, yet it contains valuable information relating to war victims when Korea was...
