The theatre is beautiful and seating is comfortable. The show I saw, The Lion King was OUTSTANDING. The voices of the cast are majestic and the strong South African influence brings a very special dynamic of the African spirit to the show. The powerful, guttural sounds bring an authenticity that gives the show its special magic. The props, costumes and makeup is dazzling and had me transfixed. The energy of the cast was like electricity and I marvel at how, in fact, such a small cast, can manage a show of this magnitude. It was breath-taking. Read moreAlright, the venue in and of itself was great. A great stage, a wonderful orchestra, and the nutcracker performance was superb. Now...the downside....the staff have no idea what they are doing...the box office ladies did not know there was a bakery where you can get wine during the intermission...
The ushers were pretty great. But they all assumed you would know where to go... Please train your staff to speak English or at least have a booth where an English speaking staff is present.

Read moreThis is a modern opera house, with a nice central foyer. What you would normally expect for such a place for a major city, but with a large and well equipped performance area. There is a cafe beside the foyer, unusually serving a nice selection of sandwiches, soup, coffees, and snacks, negating the need to have dinner before the performance. Also, on the balcony (first balcony), we were told that our seats on the side would be restricted view, but happily the lines of sight...
