Walked to the headland where there are beautiful wild flowers, art installations, picnic tables, benches, and drinking water taps situated on a gravel and rock path along the coast and finally to the Tower of Hercules. We bought tickets online for midday. Such incredible foresight back in the 18th century means we still have this Roman Tower now encased to protect it.

The Tower of Hercules is the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse that is still used for maritime signalling. The Tower of Hercules was restored in the 18th century in an exemplary manner, which has protected the central core of the original Roman monument while restoring its technical functions. It is testimony to the use of lighthouses in antiquity as the Romans mastered so much in such early history. The Tower is also proof of the continuity of the Atlantic route from when it was first organised by the Romans, during a large part of the Middle Ages, and through to today.

UNESCO world heritage site, and rightly so!

An absolute joy to visit.

Book online, orbuy tickets at the information office in the free car park. Room for cars and motorhomes. Accessible to the Tower but stairs to the top.

Take water, wear good footwear. Take time to walk the headland. It is beautiful.

Highly recommended and...

It is essentially an ancient light house from Roman era. It is exceptionally well maintained and even works till day which is quite amazing. Mondays have free entry. There are open lawns around this place and many sculptures are there. Souvenirs can be bought from local vendors. Do carry a water bottle with you as there is no source of drinking water nearby. You can also see a giant trumpet which was used to alert the town if any enemy ship was spotted from the tower. View from to top is amazing. There is also an amazing sheltered beach nearby which is quite happening . It si also UNESCO World Heritage site and well protected. Very close is the aquarium which is not very fancy but informative. I really liked the way seals were playing happily. Be prepared to walk a lot. I also met a bagpiper who was really playing well and people were very generous with thier tip to him. Many foreigners were flocking the place. There is no restroom nearby so be aware. The top of the tower becomes a bit congested due to the crowd hence...

Beautiful lighthouse, oldest working lighthouse in Europe. Fantastic to visit by day and by night. By day you can climb up its stairs and get a great view of the ocean and by night, you can witness its beam of light warning ships to be aware of Galicia's "coast of death" or "Costa da morte". This is free at night and a must see! Parking is much easier at night and although it looks "closed" many of Coruña's natives go for a stroll up to the base of the tower. Wear flat shoes with a rubber sole, the road is made of cobble stone and not for heels or shoes with a slippery sole. It is pretty well lit at night. If you go by day, purchase your tickets online or at the base of the road up to the tower in a trailer-like office near the parking area on the left. Many people make the mistake of walking all the way up to the base of the tower only to be told the tickets are to be bought at the bottom. You can also buy online. Inside the tower is a sort of museum telling you about the history and legends about...

We visited as part of a cruise stop in August. It's Worth being driven to the foot as its an uphill walk. The views get amazing with each step but it does require some exertion. If you want to see the roman ruins inside you need to book tickets. They are not sold at the entry so best check online. If you're tall, you will not be able to walk up straight in some areas but the lightening is good and artefacts are well labeled. There are stone stairs, at least 200, leading to the top of the tower which has even more majestic views. I advise pacing yourself and not being in a hurry to enjoy it fully and take time to catch your breath. Unless you're fit, don't have kids or the elderly with you. If you're claustrophobic this is not for you. Would highly recommend and would revisit at a more leisurely pace in the future. Don't forget to buy the tickets before arriving! You will certainly get your step count in!

Definitely the most important landmark of the city and most likely one of the most of northern Spain and Spain itself you’ll get not only immerse at the ancient story of this place, but also in a great views of the whole city and the ocean this place is amazing very well conserved and the tickets were actually very affordable. No doubt you should make this one of her stops my wife and I visit this during the morning and it was very affordable. The climb is moderate hard, bring, of course comfortable clothes and shoes it takes 15 minutes to 20 minutes climbing stairs to get up there, but you can rest up there enjoying a great views just heads up. Be careful of people asking for money in the parking lot. Just stay away if you can get there by public transit better.

A Coruña, features the Tower of Hercules (Torre de Hercules), which was built in the 1st century‼️ It is the oldest Roman lighthouse still in use‼️ The area across from the Tower of Hercules on the beach is called Caracola, which refers to the conch, or the seashell, associated with the sea god. Lighthouses are often situated in remote and lonely places, and this ancient Tower of Hercules is no exception. Standing beside the vast sea, it may appear solitary, but it carries the significant responsibility of silently guarding the coast and guiding ships' navigation. Its importance is profound, making it far from simple. #KissKidsFamily
