Don't. Just don't. Is the park beautiful? Certainly. Is it also just another place to fleece tourists? Most definitely.
You pay 32 Euros for an adult and even a child under 5 pays 13 Euros (though it's 30 Euros if you order the day before). In order to enter the park after the ticket booth, you have to pass through a cheap memorabilia store which even has a U-Bend to ensure that it's almost impossible to get your child out of there without buying anything.
And then the real fun starts: at the end of a small bridge is a traffic jam of people, since an aggressive Spanish woman won't let you pass unless you take a picture with some birds, a confrontation that a lot of tourists naturally avoid and so take pictures with pained expressions. I can tell you from personal experience that you cannot tell the woman that you don't want a picture (she yells at you and ignores your input) and that its even more fun when, as soon as it's your turn, you just walk past the "amazing opportunity" (she yells even louder).
But don't worry, your chances to take a picture you don't want are still pretty high. Visit one of the shows and the guy with the Ara and the camera comes by and just hands you a bird, whether you want to or not. It's all incredibly brazen.
And be sure to bring cash. You pay 15 Euros for a pizza and 7 Euros for Fries. Having lived in Munich I am not that shocked, but after having spent almost 80 Euros to get my wife, my son and myself into the place, it's just ridiculous.
Now you would think that this is a place only for tourists (you'd be right), but that doesn't stop them from telling a story completely in Spanish at the shows. Oh no wait, there is an English version....well, Spanish English that describes the park as something it definitely isn't.
I wanted to give it three stars, as the park itself is beautiful and so amazingly laid out that you don't realize that it's actually pretty small. But I can't help seeing it as a giant cash grab, especially considering that you can do much more for far less on this magnificent island. There is a German word, "dreist", which describes this park perfectly.
I went there with a small child so I get the motivation to just spend some money and have an easier time as a parent, but if I have to pay almost as much for this as I pay for an ANNUAL ticket for the Munich Zoo, I can't help but feel cheated.
Edit: I had to add more after seeing the bird and see lion shows: It is more than ironic that you are fed calls for conservation and nature protection from shows that blast way too loud music with way too strong bass right next to vulnerable animals who are forced to entertain the masses, in a park that requires a lot of water on an island in water crisis. The cynicism of it all is...

Read moreWe booked our tickets the day before on their official website. We paid €104 for a group of 4 (3 adults and a teenager).
A 15 min and €10 taxi ride from Playa de las Americas and we were there. The ticket desk scanned in the QR codes on the tickets from our phone and we entered the park.
To me it seemed like every part of the park was designed to part you from your money. From the moment you walk in you have parrots and eagles placed on your shoulder for €8 pictures. There are various feeding stations around the park, each costing €2 each.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably read other reviews about the high cost of food and drink. It can be expensive, so plan accordingly.
The slushies were €7.25 each and tasted weird. Don’t get the blue flavour.
Better were the nachos and waffles we ordered from sea-lion restaurant. They were amazing and reasonable value for money.
My 15 year old son suddenly decided that it was his life long dream to “swim” with sea lions. So we ended up paying €75 for this. There was no actual swimming involved - really just petting the sea lion while posing for pictures. The first picture they take is included in the price of the experience, however they take much better additional pictures that they want you then to pay €10 for, with discounts the more you bought. This felt to me like a bit of a rip-off after paying so much for the experience.
The park itself was not too busy, which we really enjoyed. There are a wide range of animals on display. We made sure we watched the birds of prey and the sea lion shows. They were brilliant.
We spent around 5 hours in the park, which all in all was a good experience. I won’t be rushing back, but I’m glad I went.
The park is a regular taxi pickup destination - so getting back to the hotel was as simple as waiting 5 mins for the next taxi to arrive. There was a phone number on the wall to book a taxi, but when we called they only spoke Spanish and had no idea of what we were saying and...
