A wonderful change from typical wine tasting experience. The staff was extremely warm, welcoming and fun. It felt more like a meeting of friend for drinks than a wine tasting. Ara, our guide, spoke excellent English and led us on a tour of Tritium bodegas' unique 500-hundred-year-old wine cellar which included a sample from their wine barrels. This was followed by a generous tasting which lasted over an hour. We tried various bottles of whites and reds, including a draw directly from a wine skin. Smaller producers like Tritium have been granted permission to innovate beyond Rioja’s traditional wine regulations. My favorite was El Largo, which is made up of a 4-grape variety blend from the producer’s best harvests and not normally available to taste. I ended up buying two bottles. Tritium is a must try for anyone looking to change from the usually mechanical tasting experiences at the big-name producers. What’s more, the wine is very good and the people are extremely jovial. Highly recommend...
Read moreOur hotel concierge highly recommend Tritium and I’m so glad we took her advice and booked a wine tasting experience. We had such a fun time here and it was all because of our charismatic guide Ara. She was funny, quirky and delightful to be around. She shared that the business was started by two best friends and supported by only two other employees (herself included). Ara asked what type of wines we were interested in trying and tailored our tasting accordingly. It was so thoughtful and unexpected! Our favorite part was learning about the wine that Tritium puts under the sea for a year, how they have to pay to rent a portion of the sea and how they worked with a ceramist to create the uniquely shaped wine bottle. Unfortunately there wasn’t any available for us to taste but we asked to be put on the wait list in case inventory becomes available in the...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience at Bodegus Tritium. The wine tasting room is unassuming, and not at all a big commercial operation. We actually went there after being turned away from another that couldn’t fit us in due to the busloads of tourist that arrived before us. The tasting room is in an old historic room in an alley, you’ll miss it if your not careful. Our tour and tasting was guided by a very charming host named Ara.(apologies if I got her name wrong). We were her first group she hosted, and she did an amazing job and made the experience very warm and intimate. The owners introduced themselves and poured us a lot of wine and provided bread, salami, and olives. Their Tempranillo Reserve was amazing as was the Olive oil. Thank you for a wonderful experience and please compliment Ara for us and tell her to come visit us in Sonoma...
