The best La Rioja bodega tour you could possibly book. We went to two bodega tours and the passion, joy, history, and thoroughness of this tour is truly unparalleled. They offer tours in Spanish and English, I'd reach out for sure to see if they offer tours in other languages. To book you should reach out via WhatsApp, and you can easily just message or call them on there. It was only 18 euro per person for the tour and you really get to learn about the history, origins, and methods of how wine is made and how it is specific to Cenicero and the calados (underground wine cellars). We were offered generous portions of tapas and jamón ibérico (many types) to accompany the wines. I haven't even gotten to the WINES. They are of the best we've tasted in the region. Extremely smooth with clear notes. You can smell the quality before you even taste it. We walked away purchasing a whole case and the Gran Reserva, and even then we thought the wine was extremely affordable for the quality of the price. You can't buy this wine in any store or online, you can only do so by coming to this calado, so please don't miss out!

Lastly, the locals who run this calado are truly special and have built deep friendships and relationships with others in the town of Cenicero and it is truly a joy to see. They pause a lot to let you ask questions and pose questions back to you to get you thinking about how wine is made. One of the best tours I've ever been on and a top experience I recommend to anyone I know traveling...

What an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience. We were guided by Angel on a two hour storytelling adventure where we learned about his family’s wine legacy. He provided wine from the start and took us to various rooms below to explain the ancient wine making process. This tour is a must if you are in Cenicero because you will not find these wines anywhere else. If you love history (wine making dating back before the Romans), you will appreciate all of the stories about winemaking that Angel so eloquently tells. I speak Spanish (as a second language) and could follow about 95% of what he said. I was trying to also translate for my husband and Angel was very patient, but also warned me in the beginning that full translation would be difficult. He was right. However, being inside the various rooms and seeing the ancient tools used, the visuals helped to understand so much better. The experience involved all of your senses. You will not regret this...

We happened to walk up to this spot when some of the other bodegas nearby were closed and this became a highlight of our trip. The passion shared by our tour guide really drew you in and we left this tour so happy that I decided I had to write a review and also had to purchase a bottle of their wine to to commemorate the trip. We took another tour to a local bodega earlier in the day but this tour el legado far surpassed the experience. You learn so much and the tapas shared throughout the tour is wonderful. It’s amazing to learn from someone who has been involved in preserving this beautiful tradition from generations. Highly recommend and hope to visit...

This winery was in the area and had five star rating so we stopped in for a tasting and tour. It’s so deserving of five stars. It’s great to visit family owned businesses. The owners niece gave us the tour which was fascinating. Not your normal here is how we make wine but the amazing history of the building with the 16th century cellar and leaning how people made wine in that time. So interesting! I don’t want to undersell the wine as it’s delicious. And the red pepper crostini - Yum! We enjoyed the white wine as well as both reds we tried. And the prices are such a deal for small batch, quality wine. This place is a gem. Definitely worth a visit!!

We had a wonderful time at El Legado! Juan showed us, in very understandable English, his family heritage. We had a taste of all the wines El Legado had to offer and got information about the smells, tastes and food to go with it. Juan was friendly, personal and even got us a marriage gift the next day (!). Very thougtful. We wish Juan, Angel and the rest of the family and workers all the best with their business. Defenitely a relief in comparison to the big wineries how personal this tour was. A must visit if you’re in the neighboorhood.
