Great walk!! All paved but quite a few steps - not for wheelchairs. The vignettes along the way to the chapel are really beautiful, and it's almost like a Via Cruces kind of thing. Take your time to enjoy the amazing views!! There was no restroom at the chapel (at least there wasn't when we arrived) so be sure to go at one of the cafes before you start your hike. (There is a turnoff for Collbató where it looks like desperate "pee-ers" have gone before, as it's hidden from view just down the path, but better to go before!)

This is a small chapel near the Montserrat basilica. I was hiking up from the train station so this was a minor detour. The walk to the chapel is interesting with some interesting sculptures on the way, you’ll be walking along a paved road. The hillside chapel preserve the side of the hill at the main altar. Takes about 20 mins to walk to the chapel, there is no entry fee. There is also a miniature version of the Madonna at the chapel.

On arrival for the Bascilica, we chose this detour (40-50 min hike). It is worth it- breath-taking views, serenity, artistic works depicting the stations of the cross (including one by Gaudi) all on the route to a tiny Chapel, simply decorated with an alter facing cliff rock. Bring water and a snack as there are plenty of resting spots on the treck. You will feel lighter and at peace for the experience...and a little glowing.

Visiting this place was an incredible but tiring experience. You have to walk up and down stairs to get there for around 30-50 minutes. I suggest taking your time, mainly because it's very tiring, but also because it has beautiful views along the way. P.s. I happened to leave my number on the side of the mountain where there's a lot of scribbling from other people. Give me a call if you want😆

Description
The Santa Cova de Montserrat is the hillside cave on Montserrat where the Virgin of Montserrat was traditionally hidden during the Moorish invasions and later discovered by shepherds in 880. Its discovery made Montserrat into a pilgrimage destination, and led to the founding of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey.
