As Meninas de Canido — Attraction in Ferrol

I was lucky to be in this neighborhood when they had the celebration of Las Meninas. Artists from many different places come to paint their own version of Las Meninas on the walls. El proyecto de recuperación del barrio obrero de Canido es muy interesante y considero que el Concello debería apostar bastante más por humanizar aceras e incluso peatonalizar alguna calle y ayudar a los vecinos a cuidar su barrio y este proyecto. En el año 2008 el artista Eduardo Hermida decide comenzar a pintar en paredes las Meninas por la admiración que siente por Velázquez, como acto de rebeldía por la situación de abandono del barrio y tras muchas iniciativas ahora son muchos los murales pintados, de distintos estilos, colores y formas, grandes y pequeños. Hay creada una ruta guiada muy interesante y si entran en la web de Ferrol podrán descargar un PDF para situar las pinturas. Merece la pena dedicarle un tiempo.
