Dehesa de la Villa — Attraction in Madrid

It's most definitely my favourite park in Madrid, it's like a little forest in the middle of the city.

The trees, the grass and in spring the flowers give this park a fantastic smell, and even when the city is at it's contamination peaks, this place acts as a lung for the city, you can notice that you breathe much easier here.

It's location makes it a bit of a hidden gem, but it's also the place to get the best views of Madrid, specially at sunset.

On the weekends, when there's good weather, you can also experience a bit of what local Madrid looks like, it almost makes you feel you're not in Madrid, but in a small town, a wild contrast to the busy, quick and touristy centric areas of this massive metropolis.

Impresionante Parque tanto en longitud y anchura como en diversidad. Un lugar ideal para pasear, correr, biciclta, patin, pasear a tu mascota, actividades deportivas, celebraciones y otras mas relacionadas con el terreno de la salud y espiritualidad. Gran variedad forestal en especial de pinos. Zonas para descancar, bancos, fuentes espacios verdes. Senderos y pistas. Un precioso Mirador con vistas fabulosas. Cerca la " Casa del Escudo ". Parking insuficiente. La Dehesa de la Villa está situada al noroeste de la ciudad de Madrid, junto a la Ciudad Universitaria. Su principal característica es que mantiene su condición de bosque, con espacios ajardinados en las zonas colindantes a los espacios urbanos, donde podemos destacar las plantaciones de cedros. Este espacio tiene una importante variedad de avifauna; se han avistado en ella más de 70 especies de aves, lo que la convierte en una joya dentro de todos los parques de Madrid. Los vecinos y usuarios la perciben como un auténtico bosque dentro de la ciudad. En tiempos de Isabel II se comenzó la repoblación con pinos, principalmente piñoneros y carrascos, actualmente los más comunes del parque. También hay almendros, sobre todo amargos, y acacias, habituales cerca de la calle Francos Rodríguez. En las vaguadas húmedas aparecen chopos, fresnos y olmos. Easy access from the surrounding area and popular with locals and dog walkers. The park is medium sized (i.e much smaller than the large city parks like Central, Hyde or El Retiro, but big enough to get a morning walk in before lunch). Plenty of hills and views across the city in three directions; there's also a flat walking path and cycle track that goes around the park, with plenty of benches to sit and have a coffee.
