Faro de Muxía is a small but striking lighthouse located on the wild Atlantic coast of Galicia, in northwestern Spain. It stands on the rocky Cape Muxía, just a short walk from the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca, one of the region’s most revered pilgrimage sites. The lighthouse marks one of the final waypoints of the extended Camino de Santiago, known as the Camino to Finisterre and Muxía.

Though modest in size, the lighthouse offers dramatic views of the ocean and rugged coastline. The surrounding landscape—windswept cliffs, crashing waves, and mystical light—makes it a favorite spot for photographers and hikers. It’s especially beautiful at sunset or during stormy weather, when the true power of the “Costa da Morte” (Coast of Death) is revealed.

The Faro de Muxía is also a symbol of quiet reflection at the end of a spiritual journey. Many pilgrims come here after reaching Santiago to continue their walk to the “end of the world.” Peaceful, remote, and deeply atmospheric, the lighthouse invites contemplation, solitude, and connection...

Faro de Muxía is a stunning spot, especially if you’re into wild coastal views. The waves here crash hard against the rocks—super dramatic and kind of mesmerizing to just stand and watch. The whole area has this peaceful, almost spiritual vibe, especially if you catch it early in the day or at sunset. Not much around in terms of shops, but that’s part...

The views are amazing. It is the main lighthouse located in the Costa do Morte Region. It is a little lighthouse, but it is surrounded by rounded stones and the sea. It is a must if you...
