Loved visiting the castle & garden here. This was the highlight of our one week trip in the area. A word of caution. There are a lot of steps and steep climbs. We spent about 2 + hours there. That allowed us time to read the English bit of info in each room, watch the odd short video clip and take our time enjoying the amazing views. We walked through the town when done. Places to eat in the town didn’t seem great and are over priced. I’d go somewhere else to eat. But obviously we didn’t try everywhere so…. The place we ate was way overpriced for average fast food style offerings. The blowhole brought us to this town. It was quiet and unremarkable. The castle was the jewel in the crown. Highly...

Majestic entrance walking from the historic isthmus of Peñiscola, the Gibraltar of Valencia. Notice the coat of arms of Papa Luna in the center--during times of plague or siege the city would close off this entrance (unfortunately they didn't shut the door during Coronavirus :) The walk up begins here on an incline, be careful because it can...

This place was littered with garbage, and how ironic is the beautiful peniscola sign laying on the ground next to the garbage because the government here could care less about the state of the water, town and people. This place is full of trash and pollution, it’s a shame.
