I write as a representative for about 30 families. We came here to Peñiscola as a part of a church. It's the third time now that we are here and still love it.

Part of our stay here everytime is a visit of the castle of Peñiscola. This time we visited the castle again and were astonished. The view was great, the walls were amazing and the best of it were the rooms in the basement! We really enjoyed the acoustic down there.. sang some Songs there (we were some 70 people!) and praised God with our voices. 'Twas so great! You can shoot so nice pics up there too. And every angle is beautiful.

There is also a really nice garden. We didn't go there but saw it from the top of the castle.

It's only 3,50€ entry. Children till 9 years are even free.

There are several rooms that are nice to see, some stairs and a big platform on top of the castle. It might take you 1 1/2 hours to see and enjoy most of it.

All in all it is a really nice location to go in your vacations. Especially for families or bigger groups it's worth it.

If you want to go to a nice restaurant afterwards you'll definetly find something good:) there are probably hundreds of restaurants in the near surrounding of the castle. There are good paellas out there, the jamon and cheese is good and there are also good restaurants where you can get pizza or burgers. Not to forget all the special seafood meals and Sangria bowls!;)

There are also good and cheap parking slots near the castle. You won't have any problem finding one. But make sure you don't go there in the hottest time of the day. I reccomend 5pm or later. And afterwards you can enjoy the night life of Peñiscola.

So don't miss to go to Peñiscola castle. You surely won't regret it. Maybe we see each other there;) would...

A Historic Gem, Nestled on a picturesque hill overlooking the glistening Mediterranean Sea, Peniscola Castle stands as a testament to centuries of history and architectural brilliance. As I stepped through its ancient gates, I was instantly transported back in time to the era of knights and kings.

The castle's commanding presence is awe-inspiring, with its imposing stone walls and fortified towers offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Exploring its labyrinthine corridors and chambers, I was fascinated by the rich tapestry of its past, from its origins as a Moorish citadel to its role as a royal residence during the reign of the Knights Templar.

One of the highlights of my visit was the castle's impressive courtyard, where I marveled at the intricate craftsmanship of its arched arcades and ornate fountains. It was here that I could almost feel the echoes of past events, from grand banquets to fierce battles fought in defense of its walls.

The castle's museum provided a fascinating insight into its history, with displays of artifacts ranging from medieval weaponry to intricate tapestries. I particularly enjoyed learning about the castle's role in the Spanish Reconquista and its significance in the region's cultural heritage.

Overall, my experience at Peniscola Castle was nothing short of unforgettable. Its blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in delving into the rich tapestry of Spain's past. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking a glimpse into a bygone era, this historic gem offers a captivating journey...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Castell de Peníscola is an absolute must-visit! Perched dramatically above the sea, this historic Templar castle offers incredible views, rich history, and a magical atmosphere that transports you back in time. The castle is beautifully preserved, with winding stone staircases, open courtyards, and lookout points that offer panoramic views of the Mediterranean, the town, and the surrounding coastline. It’s easy to see why it’s nicknamed the “Gibraltar of Valencia” — the location is truly stunning. Inside, there are fascinating exhibits about the Knights Templar and the famous Pope Benedict XIII (“Papa Luna”), who once made this his papal residence. It’s a perfect blend of history, architecture, and scenery. Walking up through the charming old town to reach the castle adds to the experience, with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and plenty of local shops and cafes to explore. Whether you’re a history buff, photographer, or just love a good view, Castell de Peníscola is unforgettable. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area!
