"it's so bad, I want to give you a zero. But that's not possible. So I give you a one".
This has to be the worst amusement (/water) park I've ever been to (of countless parks in multiple countries, counting waterparks and other parks). Do not waste your time going there. Time and money I'll never get back.
Waaay too many people for such a small waterpark. There were buses and buses of people arriving, even when the park was way too full. Hours of lines, only a few rides. And we arrived at c.a. 10.50, so 50 minutes after opening. And it was still this packed...
It took forever to get tickets so I ended up buying them online whilst waiting in the (20 person) queue. Then when we finally got inside, endless people/children from schools started pouring in. You could barely walk because there were so many people. Everyone bumping into everyone.
We spoke to a member of staff that told us that it was usually this busy, and agreed that this was not suitable for the park. After an hour at the park, trying to decide whether we should change into swimwear and just make the best of it, we decided to see if we could just get a refund. We were told to speak to another member of staff that we were told was quite high ranking, which called another person, Carlos, the marketing director. We were told to go meet with him, which we did. But then some other guy came to talk to us, so Carlos could not even be bother to see us. That guy ended up being rude and tried to convince us that the park was not that busy, that it wasn't at full capacity, even though my clothes were wet from wet people bumping into me, due to lack of space. He denied us a refund and we ended up walking out of the park. Even after we walked out, people were still coming into the park, buses of children.
I know this is a lot, and maybe it sounds like I'm whining... but I assure you, this was nothing like I've ever seen before. Even in those biggest tourist parks.
Save yourself the trouble, time, and money, and go somewhere else. This is...
Read moreWe purchased our tickets from the tourist store in main Barcelona for the same price as we would have done online. The manager at our apartment gave us precise instructions on the bus to take to the main bus stop which offers a free service to the water park. It helps to be polite and speak a little basic Spanish ( let's face it, we would expect the same here!), we asked a local shop which bus stop to take and he said to get the white bus outside his shop. The bus arrived on time, however the queue built up pretty quickly...we got on and arrived on time to the water park. The queues were huge to get in, however, again, using basic Spanish, I showed a member of staff our printed tickets and they escorted us all to the main gate, by passing all the queues and let us in straight away. The park itself is fantastic....very busy...but we weren't going there with 3 children to sit in one place! The queues for the slides look a little off-putting, however even when the queues were at the bottom of the stairs, we didn't queue more than 15 minutes for any slide. The set up of the 'red light, green light' is quick and efficient and I witnessed 2 lifeguards help out tired and fainting members of the public, quicker than I have ever seen anyone react!! I don't know what people expect from such a large attraction....there was plenty of space to walk around, we found a spot to eat, then carried about our business enjoying the day. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and would recommend the park to anyone, it certainly was the highlight of our holiday. On the downside, make sure, if you are getting the return free bus, that you are there at least 20mins before it leaves....we were left on the bus for 20 mins at the 6.30pm bus as a family refused to leave the front of the bus as there was no...
Read moreVisited Illa Fantasia on the 5th of August with my 8 year old son, who wanted to go to a waterpark so badly. Getting there was easy (R1 to Premia de Mar from placa da Catalunya). And also the free shuttle bus from Premia de Mar was perfectly on time. The waterpark itself was a lot of fun with all the different waterslides, swimmingpools and even a poolparty. So in terms of entertainment for the kids I would have given 4 stars. But the level of hygiene and maintenance is horrible. When we arrived at the lockers I was seriously shocked. There was garbage on the floor of the area.....it smelled discusting and there was even black mold on the walls (very dangerous!). Also the dressing room was very dirty. The floors were covered in dirt and the showers....well let's say you won't get any cleaner from those. There is also no privacy because it is just one room for woman and one for man. So we decided to just put our stuff quickly in the lockers and at the end, to not take a shower and only quickly change our clothes and shower in our hotel because it was too filthy in the locker and dressing area. Also good to know....there is no toiletpaper at the toilets. The waterslides clearly show they need maintenance. So 2 stars, because to my opinion the park needs to take action on the maintenance part and definately on the level of hygiene. But apart from that we did had a lot of fun. And with al the heat...it was nice to cool down...
