:) Really nice market and selection. 1 star is lost as no effort is made to make signage for, nor to include, clean, free and available public washrooms. Not just for this event - The Sunday Market - for even just day to day tourists which visit the area to see the many sites of Teror and enjoy the many amazing Hiking Trails and events hosted here in Teror. Clean, modern, staffed, handicapped accessible, free public washroom facilities are limited only to Playa Las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a few forward thinking areas such as Firgas that consider the needs of citizens and tourists who flood these areas. Teror needs good public toilets as does the entire islands Parks, towns, beaches etc. Covid is not the sole health crisis to focus attention on and divert resources too. Hint: if driving to the Sunday Market the quickest and cheapest parking can be found along the slip road out of Teror heading towards Aruchas - another lovely place to see and explore. Another safety concern is a serious lack of walking paths outside of the main square in Teror along the streets and roads. Be very careful if you park further out as the walk in along the shoulder can be very dangerous with many narrow points, fast drivers and blind spots. Buy: recommend highly the fresh honey that is actually honey and not a store blend of corn syrup pretending to be honey. Expect to pay a minimum of €1 per 100 ml of real honey. So worth...
Read moreTeror is a beautiful little town in the north of Gran Canaria, not too far away from Las Palmas. I loved the central and convenient area the market was based in. Located next to the church, this market is really based in the heart of the city. Some stands had music, and overall the vibe was peaceful. When I arrived around 10:00 am, the market wasn’t too full - which I immensely enjoyed. Overall the city is a tourist (also local) point, and it has several shops and cafes. Now, there were some religious stands (with some overpriced products, while others were okay), there was food (especially local food/pastry) and some other artisanal stands, along side with fruits and veggies. I wish I had seen more stands with interesting artisanal things, such as clothes. I realise that stands are of local people, so perhaps, they also tailor their products based on what they have and the demand. After less than 1 hour I was done with the sightseeing, so make sure not to plan a full day in this lovely village because it would be way too much. I’d give 3.5 overall because by looking at videos on YouTube it definitely seemed way bigger than it...
Read moreDo you like streets bustling with people and market stands with a great variety of exotic and local artisanal products? Are you looking for souvenirs or special gifts that are not like the stuff you get in all the tourist spots? Are you looking for a market that has all of that? If you do then move along, folks, because this one is not it.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for the most disappointing market experience of you life with barely any variety of wares and greasy, unhealthy, mediocre food - and yet, the town is so packed with people it's close to impossible to find a parking spot then look no more! The market in Teror is the one for you!
In all seriousness, though, this market is so bad even 1 out of 5 stars is too much... just do yourself a favour and go somewhere else - or consider just...
