Bodega Muelas — Attraction in Tordesillas

Just stumbled out of Bodega Muelas in Tordesillas, and I’m buzzing from their Verdejo! This family-run gem tucked near the Puente feels like stepping into a wine lover’s dream. The tour’s a steal at €10, guiding you through ancient cellars where you’ll taste crisp whites and robust reds each sip tells a story of the Duero Valley. Pro tip: book the 11 AM slot to avoid the midday crowd and snag the best light for photos in the courtyard. We enjoyed a guided tour of the subterranean levels of this bodega. The only tour that suited our schedule was in Spanish. We gave it a go and understood quite a bit. There were 15 on the tour. To finish we were presented with 4 of their wines :

1. a Dry white
2. A relatively young red (2017)
3. An older red (2008)
4. A sweet white (moscatel) with some local cheese and a couple of sweet biscuits. A tasting and discussion of the different wines was very interesting. Despite it being the first of two busy days bottling the new harvest, Reyas (forgive me if I have spelled this incorrectly) gave us a great tasting hour with excellent information. Fantastic wine and great surprising wine products for gifts. Wonderful to think that it is nearly 140 years since Reya's great grandparents first started making wine and the passion in the family still runs so deep.
