The train museum in Catalonia is a must-visit for locomotive enthusiasts and history buffs alike, even if you're coming from just an hour away in Barcelona. Stepping into the museum is like stepping back in time, surrounded by magnificent locomotives and carriages, each whispering tales of Catalonia's rich railway history.

The collection is comprehensive and captivating, featuring sleek, modern bullet trains to grand, smoky steam engines. And the best part? You can actually climb aboard some of the steam locomotives, making history come alive.

Ticket prices are reasonable, especially considering you have a whole month from purchase to revisit the museum at your leisure. It's perfect for families or anyone who wants to explore the exhibits in multiple visits.

Beyond the impressive locomotives, the museum offers a fascinating journey through Catalonia's railway history. Interactive exhibits, informative displays, and historical artifacts paint a vivid picture of how trains shaped the region's landscape, economy, and culture.

Whether you're a train enthusiast or just looking for a unique and interesting day trip from Barcelona, the train museum in Catalonia is a winner. With its impressive collection, interactive exhibits, and budget-friendly approach, it's a journey that will leave you enriched and entertained.

Bonus Tip: Check the museum's website for special events and activities, which can add another layer of fun...

Ebael 💖

INGLÉS:

Hi, fellow travelers!

How is your trip going? The path of Consciousness is not easy, but if it is done well, it offers surprises like the one I will show you below.

This day I took a break and stopped the train at the Railway Museum of Cataluña, in Barcelona, in Villanueva i la Geltrú. It was in July 2019.

The staff was very welcoming to me. I arrived by train from Barcelona to there.

I stopped by there to document myself for my novel about the railway and world conscience that I will soon publish. The library has some precious and very complete books. There they kindly accompanied me to have access to books and manuals, as soon as I explained the large-scale project that I am carrying out with the book.

The interior part of the museum has much of the history of the railway documented, as you can see in my photographs. The exterior of the museum is not far behind. I had the great privilege of taking photos with the first locomotive built in Spain, the Mataró, which traveled the first Barcelona - Mataró line in October 1848. Also with the Santa Fe and the Confederation, among many other beautiful machines. Everything is very well kept and maintained by the staff.

I think that the beauty that I saw in this place cannot be explained with words, so I leave you with the images. I also wanted to portray as many details and parts of a cabin as possible, to document myself in depth. I sincerely hope you like it.

A hug to all of you, with my special affection as always.

Love,

Ebael 💖

We had a wonderful visit to the Museu del Ferrocarril de Catalunya! It's a great destination for any train lover, young or old. My child, who’s a huge train enthusiast, absolutely enjoyed it. The museum is set up in a way that allows you to explore at your own pace, making it feel like a unique journey through railway history.

The exhibits are well-spaced, and there’s a wide variety of trains to see, from classic locomotives to modern engines. One thing I would recommend for families with younger children is to do a bit of research beforehand. Knowing some background on the trains really enhances the experience and helps you appreciate the historical significance of each piece. The museum provides a lot of information, but a little extra context made it even more enjoyable for us.

Overall, it was a fun, educational outing and a must-visit for anyone interested in trains. A fantastic day out that’s both informative and...

It worths the while if you have small kids. The access is easy(next to the actual Renfe-Rodalies station of Vilanova and next to the bus station). It has a space to leave your bicycle. If you have a Library Card the price is reduced. Kids under 5 don’t pay. The place is spacious and kids can plat inside or outside freely. I saw kids playing hide and seek even. It also has a playground outside and a picnic area. Lots of stuff to see. Interactive monitors make it more fun for the little ones. Water fountains outside and sitting areas. Clean bathrooms. Helpful stuff. The inside playing area is so fun too! The Vilanova library is also a couple of minutes away if you want to visit it as well. Walking distance (5 minutes) from the beach and a huge park as well. It’s a great excursion for kids!
