I recently had the pleasure of visiting the stunning island of Lanzarote, and my journey took me to the southernmost point of the island, the Faro de Punta Pechiguera. This extraordinary destination left an indelible impression on me, as it combines breathtaking natural beauty with a rich history that transports visitors to another time. Upon arriving at Faro de Punta Pechiguera, I was immediately captivated by the picturesque landscape. Nestled on a rocky cliff, the lighthouse stands tall and proud, offering panoramic views of the sparkling azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The sight of waves crashing against the rugged coastline created a mesmerizing spectacle that will forever be etched in my memory. As I explored the surroundings, I discovered that Faro de Punta Pechiguera is more than just a lighthouse; it is a gateway to the island's past. The lighthouse, built in the 19th century, serves as a testament to the maritime heritage of Lanzarote. Its charming architecture and pristine white exterior are a stark contrast to the volcanic landscape, adding a touch of elegance to the rugged terrain. The extensive pathways surrounding the lighthouse allow visitors to take leisurely strolls while marveling at the raw beauty of Lanzarote's southern coast. The unspoiled views stretch as far as the eye can see, with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and golden sandy beaches inviting exploration. I found myself immersed in the tranquility of the location, basking in the warm sunshine and breathing in the crisp, salty air. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing the mesmerizing sunset from Faro de Punta Pechiguera. As the sun descended into the horizon, painting the sky with a breathtaking palette of hues, the entire landscape transformed into a dreamscape. It was a moment of sheer serenity and awe, leaving me grateful to be a part of such a magnificent spectacle. In conclusion, Faro de Punta Pechiguera is an enchanting destination that embodies the essence of Lanzarote's southern charm. From the rugged coastline and panoramic views to the rich maritime history and unforgettable sunsets, this place offers an unforgettable experience for all travelers. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply seeking a moment of tranquility, a visit to Faro de Punta Pechiguera is an absolute must.

A trip along the coast to the Faro de Pechiguera... Take a note of the following : Have cold water with you, Make sure your cap, hat is properly anchored on your head and that you wear appropriate clothing to protect you against sunburnt, Wear hiking boots if you want to venture down the rocks close to the water, The rocks are dangerously and very slippery and wearing flip-flops or inappropriate shoes may put you in danger. Stay away of the edge of the cliffs, the strong winds are very powerful and there is nothing to protect you but yourself

What is there to say? There is little in the vicinity other than the sea view and the monolithic towering mass of this lighthouse. Indeed, it dominates the horizon, as it towers ominously over the tumbled waste that surrounds it. But that, in and of itself, makes it a spot worth visiting, if only to get a little further away from the hubbub of the nearby resort.

It's quieter out here, particularly at dawn, making it an excellent spot to watch the sunrise in relative peace. There are signs that the expanding resort is inching closer to this area. It isn't hard to imagine a point in the future in which there will be hotels and villas immediately in the vicinity of the lighthouse. Indeed, when I was here in 2016 there were foundations being laid for future properties, on the nearest outskirts...
