Excellent guided tour by Ainhoa who explained in plain English ( with nice Basque accent!) the complex, geological sedimentary rock formations that make up this geopark of international importance. Yes they are layers formed over 50 million years ago that look like the pages of a book. It was like I was back in my geology class learning about the ammonite fossils & the German origins of the word flysch !

The route itself lasts about 1.5 hours and goes to Sakoneta Beach close to Deba. We did it on a really calm day but still the sea was a bit rough at times so if you easily get seasick, focus on the horizon.

Hemos hecho la visita de las siete playas y ha sido decepcionante. Nulas explicaciones de la guía sobre lo que estábamos viendo, en cambio se ha explayado sobre un balneario regentado por religiosos donde el régimen metía a presos políticos... ¿A cuenta de qué? Caro paseo en barco. Y cuado le preguntamos por los flysch nos dice que deberíamos haber escogido otra visita, la que va hacia el otro lado de la costa. Entonces... ¿Para qué ofrecen ésta? Otro consejo: el acceso a Mutriku es a través de unas carretera estrecha y llena de curvas que se hace eterna, definitivamente hay que escoger otro punto de partida de la visita. Nos ha estropeado tanto la mañana que hemos cancelado la reserva que teníamos para comer en el pueblo y nos hemos movido...
