🔭▪️What to visit in Sigtuna?
🌊▪️In the city center you will find a large alley surrounded by a 𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞 "𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧". Also just around the corner you will found city's 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 - 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧. It is a very beautiful street where every house is of amazing beauty. On this street you will find the 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦.
🌊▪️𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐤𝐲𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐧. Mariakyrkan, the first church in this region called Mälardalen built with bricks well deserves a visit. The church is dated back to the 13th century and built by a couple of Dominic monks.
🌊▪️𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐚. Most popular castle is Steninge. Those who visit Sigtuna by car might want to stop by one (or all) of the 5⃣ castles nearby. These are: 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬, 𝐒𝐤𝐨𝐤𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐒𝐤å𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐦, 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐧.

Read moreIf you are passionate about history, like museums and take your time to really see what is presented, I definitely recommend this museum.
Small as it may be, the display and the information are perfectly arranged so that you can really observe the objects from all angles, read the explanations while also not feeling stuffy or overwhelmed.
I had no expectations when I visited - btw. it is not free, there is an entrance of 100 SEK- but I left feeling like I had one of the best history museums experiences ever. I found it quite refreshing to see less exhibits but excellently explained, than huge amounts of objects with less context.
Honestly, compared to the museum at Gamla Uppsala for example, which I had visited a couple of days earlier, this was a waaay better and more pleasant feeling. A yes, and I also loved their gift-shop (nice, fine crafted things) and the staff.

The history of this town runs far back, meaning that it seems rather impossible for such limited archaeological finds to show. It could be that these are located in other museums, but Sigtuna Museum promotes itself online as showing important historical finds as well. As the museum is free most of the year you can do it in very minimal time and spent the rest elsewhere, and they do give some information on the history of Sweden but the lack of more results in coming out of the building with more questions than...
