Ciyun Temple — Attraction in Alishan Township

Reviewing a temple is odd, as it's foremost a place of worship, dedication and study, and I can't/won't review its fitness as a place of religious devotion. For a tourist, it's a small, cute temple at the top of a mountain among large, green trees, steep trails, a small museum and a school. A small moss garden surrounds it the local area and there are bathrooms available for use nearby. I hiked to it but it's next to a small road, so there might be easier ways up. Another Taiwanese templ... It's the nature around the temple that is spectacular!

The Alishan National Park is wonderful in many ways. It seems to have become a little more sterile than in the past, with new wooden walkways going everywhere, instead of the more natural trails... But I guess that's better for the overall environment, considering how many people are arriving these days, perhaps making the erosion too much for the forest to maintain and regenerate.
