This is a multiple-building establishment which I believe is part research & education center, museum, and also trying to be an aqua-ocean tourist destination. It's not like those aquatic parks in other countries where you can find yourself immersed in a 360-degree glass wall/ceiling/floor. The surrounding view is pretty awesome with some fresh seaside air. There's really nothing exceptional to see so don't set your expectations that high. But if you're taking your SO, your kids, or someone dear for a half-day stroll, definitely go for it. After that, go to Keelung Ren'ai market for some sushi. The restaurants in and around the buildings seem to be outrageously expensive although I'm pretty sure that some of the food might be worth it. Nonetheless, we were in Keelung for more reasonably priced seafood and street food.

I believe this place is manage or support by the Evergreen Lines. It has a huge area for different displays. It is more suitable for children or students. As they will find subjects are more interesting, I believe. For me, I like the trails it offers. It took my son and I couple of hours to completed. We took pictures of the nice ocean view, offshore island, and rock formations. At the same time we get enough exercises and sun tan for the day. There are a few restaurants in the building. Try the one on fifth floor. We appreciate our meal at the same time we enjoy the outside ocean views. I would recommend all my friends to visit this wonderful place.

There was a special event when I visit here. As on that day they have special policies for students and volunteers, instead of re-programming the ticket machine, they turn off them and ask every single one to buy the ticket in the general help-desk. It cost me 35 minutes to get the ticket, as there are only two staff selling tickets at the moment. Deli store is also short of staff, you won't be able to order for a queue like 20 minutes, and another 20 minutes before you can take a peek of what you've ordered. More preparation with more consideration is required here.

基隆海科館, located in a perfect place right on the ocean side. A very big place including several building, and sea-side walking trails. Good for 1: Buildings are good and environmental designed. Good for 2: clean and comfortable inside. Good for 3: many ocean related information for adults and kids. Bad for 1: confusing maps and directions Bad for 2: different namings for same places. Bad for 3: takes a long time to get to from Taipei. Bad for 4: Confusing bus transportation from Keelung City to here.

This place is so big and such a good place to know more about marine. There are so many kinds of marine biota which are being introduced while we are in the museum. Outside the museum is also good for recreation and we can also try to ride the shuttle bus around the museum. The architecture of the museum is also magnificient. So, it is so good to take a picture there.

planned to go to iocean but the tickets were sold out so just can enter main exhibition, kids played in the kids exploration zone, and collected stamps from each floor of the museum. there were two clowns making balloons, just needed to queue. though no fish just display in the main exhibition, still had good time here. parking lot might be packed on weekend.
