Came here to visit an artist/environment activist's exhibition on ocean plastic pollution. Her exhibition was great, but walking around the whole museum just made me upset and extremely sad. For a place that's meant to be about science and education which advocates the importance of the ocean and the detrimental effects of human activity to it, they've made absolutely no effort in reducing plastic waste. Quite the opposite, in fact. All merchandising is wrapped in layers of plastic, all exhibits are plastic injection moulding tacky objects, the food vendors use plastic wrapped plastic straws and freely give out plastic bags. I even found a section where they sell dead baby sea creatures as taxidermy in plastic containers and pens. I mean, WHAT THE????? The people who run this place and the scientists who work here should use their brains and be more thoughtful about how they set up and run this place. Absolutely...
Read moreThis is a multiple-building establishment which I believe is part research & education center, museum, and also trying to be an aqua-ocean tourist destination. It's not like those aquatic parks in other countries where you can find yourself immersed in a 360-degree glass wall/ceiling/floor. The surrounding view is pretty awesome with some fresh seaside air. There's really nothing exceptional to see so don't set your expectations that high. But if you're taking your SO, your kids, or someone dear for a half-day stroll, definitely go for it. After that, go to Keelung Ren'ai market for some sushi. The restaurants in and around the buildings seem to be outrageously expensive although I'm pretty sure that some of the food might be worth it. Nonetheless, we were in Keelung for more reasonably priced seafood and...
Read moreI believe this place is manage or support by the Evergreen Lines. It has a huge area for different displays. It is more suitable for children or students. As they will find subjects are more interesting, I believe. For me, I like the trails it offers. It took my son and I couple of hours to completed. We took pictures of the nice ocean view, offshore island, and rock formations. At the same time we get enough exercises and sun tan for the day. There are a few restaurants in the building. Try the one on fifth floor. We appreciate our meal at the same time we enjoy the outside ocean views. I would recommend all my friends to visit this...
