漁品軒海鮮木桶魚餐廳 — Restaurant in Keelung

Per Heather’s request for live seafoods, my friend suggested us to try it in Keelung to avoid some tourist trap to pay more unnecessary. We came here & it has fish tanks for live lobsters, fishes, crabs & prawns. I chose a live crab & prawns. I then let Heather to choose the live dragon tiger rock cod. We then ordered deep fried silver fish, stir fried basil with clams, a curry soft shell crab & the famous champion fried rice. Live crab was for Southeast Asia style crab cuisine. Three prawns wee for grilled. The dragon tithe rock cod is for steamed. All dishes were prepared & cooked perfectly, thus we had a seafood feast & fully enjoyed every single bite. After the awesome seafoods, we then went to souvenir shop next door to buy more snacks made of kettle fish & fish. I strongly recommend this seafood restaurant because the price is transparent & reasonable. You don’t necessarily need to order the expensive wild caught lobsters, crabs, fish or prawns. Fresh ingredients and cooked lightly. One can taste the ingredients instead of the seasoning. This approach sounds straightforward but is surprisingly hard to accomplish.

The small cuttlefish are so clean that none of the ones I had contain any ink inside. The cuttlefish are grilled which brings out the flavor and is a much better way of cooking as compared to the common method of boiling.

Another key is the place is fairly clean with strong A/C. In fact, the A/C could be considered too strong by some. For us coming from much cooler climate than the subtropical Taiwan, it is a godsend.

What kept this place from earning five stars are the lack of layered flavor and relatively high price.

This is a good seafood 🦞 restaurant in Keelung next to the sea and you can even see Jioufen 九份 from the restaurant. Jioufen sparkles like a gemstones on a hill at night.
