I just read a 1 star review from someone who went here and was upset that there was just a small cave in the mountain with a tiny waterfall. But after their hike they went back down the trail and walked to the main road to catch a taxi.

This is not how to do this trail. I always take visiting friends to Xindian MRT station (Green Line). We take a 10 minute taxi to the trail head. Hike up to the waterfall. After the water fall continue hiking up. It is steep for only 10 minutes and it quickly flattens out to a very easy peaceful and beautiful walk to Maokong.

At Maokong you get a great sunset view of Taipei. You can eat at a tea hut and take the Gondola back down to Taipei City Zoo MRT (Brown Line).

Don't go on weekends. Don't go on public holidays. Go on week days and there will...

This is a wonderful waterfall area, peaceful place to think and meditate on anything you want. Once you find your way here by your own means.

I walked here from the gondola ride and noticed this place on the map they give out in the tourist area. It was a very small mark off the broken path, so I decided to walk over there and it was much longer than expected, but worth it to see something unique and peaceful. I think many will agree they will have found this by accident or by chance.

The little temple inside is beautiful and the view from behind the waterfall is something to remember. But if your into taking long walks and enjoying your own...

Really unique place, but a little tricky to get to. There are two ways I found to get to the cave: Get the green line to Xindian (新店) and then get the bus 647 towards Zhongsheng Bridge (中生橋頭). The trail is around 20-30 mins from the bridge and mainly uphill. When you arrive at the start of the trail, it's all steep steps which can be slippery. The hike to the top took around 10 mins. You can go to Taipei Zoo MRT station via the brown line and ride the cable car to Maokong Station (貓空站). Once at the top, you can walk around 2km to the cave. The walk is pleasant but could...
