清水眷村文化園區 — Attraction in Taichung

The so called "dependents village", is an urban and social form that surged under the timely historical background of the retreat of ROC government from the mainland in 1949. The lack of housing for massive amount of public servants created hundreds of not thousands of villages. The residence could be from every corner of the mainland but serves in the same government branch. Many were created before the common ownership of private cars, or scooters even, thus many of the such villages have narrow streets, and the intimate social bonds creat many "third places". The village is a fading form of social group. Many are already demolished, but some presentation efforts are being pursued, as the "dependents village" are still in manys' memories. 清水眷村文化園區介紹 ： 原本是空軍眷屬的宿舍，名為「信義新村」設立於1949年間，後來民國101年核定為全國13處眷村文化保存計畫之一。 清水眷村文化園區位於的清水區擁有豐富的人文歷史，還有西元前2000-400年前的金屬器時代的中社遺址，遍布在港區藝術中心跟清水眷村文化園區中，而園區在在日治時代則為新高支場的宿舍區，目前依舊可以看出當時宿舍的樣貌。 1949年國民政府來臺時期，由中國貴州省大定縣遷來臺，作為軍眷宿舍，從最早的單進雙斜黑瓦屋頂、編竹夾泥牆，後來慢慢增建，形成豐富的建築型態、高低起伏的屋頂、錯綜的空間、巷弄與圍牆，充滿著人文風情與歷史教育意義。
